Leeds have now taken on five of the big six at Elland Road this season with Tottenham completing the ‘Super League set’ this weekend. They have drawn all five so far.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side were accused of being naïve against the top teams in the league after a series of heavy away defeats against the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham at the turn of the year, but they have been far more pragmatic in recent home games against the big sides.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

Their scoreless draw with Manchester United two weeks ago was one of the dullest games of the season – something that would never have been said in the early days of their campaign.

Leeds were also far more defensively sound in recent draws with Liverpool and Chelsea, while they showed impressive resilience in their 2-1 win at Manchester City.

The Draw

If Tottenham are hoping to be 3-0 up and cruising by 50 minutes like they were in January, they are going to be sadly disappointed. Spurs have won two games out of two in the league under Ryan Mason, but the rookie manager couldn’t have asked for a more ideal start to life in the Premier League.

Along with Leicester on the final day, this will be Mason’s biggest test in his short stint as a Premier League manager and he will hope to keep Spurs’ slim chances of qualifying for the Champions League alive. They could take a major dent, however, if Leeds manage to come away with a Draw as I suspect they will.

Under 2.5 goals

It seems almost sacrilegious to predict a low-scoring Leeds game considering that no team has been involved in more goals in the league this season. Leeds have scored and conceded a combined total of 102 goals in 34 games this season, but they have been involved in three scoreless draws in home games against the big six.

Meanwhile, their two other home games against the league’s top clubs – Liverpool and Manchester City – both finished 1-1. Six of Leeds’s last nine league games have seen under 2.5 goals and they appear to have finally settled down after an unpredictable and hugely entertaining first half of the season.

Tottenham, on the other hand, have scored two or more goals in five of their last six league games and boast one of the most threatening attacks in the division. However, they have frequently struggled to break down well-organised defences throughout the season and Leeds have proved just that in home games against big teams. Under 2.5 Goals is our second leg.

Leeds to score under 0.5 goals in the first half

Leeds made a notoriously slow start in their recent 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Elland Road, which has been something of a hallmark of their campaign to date. Bielsa’s side have scored 30 of their 50 league goals in the second half and seem to struggle to get going against the top teams in particular.

Leeds have failed to score a first half goal in six home games against Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Leicester, and Chelsea. They were sluggish against Liverpool and United in April and may take some time to get going against Tottenham on Saturday as Leeds Score Under 0.5 Goals in the First Half.

Harry Kane to have two or more shots on target

Kane failed to score in a home game against Sheffield United last time out and missed Spurs’ 2-1 win over Southampton a week previously, missing out on two glorious opportunities to extend his lead in the race for the Golden Boot. He will be desperate to rectify that at Elland Road on Saturday and will almost certainly pepper Illan Meslier’s goal throughout.

With 96 shots in 31 games, Kane has attempted more shots than any other player in the league this season and hits the target with every second shot. The English forward averages 1.5 shots on target per game this season and will have his chances against a Leeds side that has conceded an average of 18 shots per game in their five home games against the big six so far. We can expect Harry Kane to Have Two or More Shots on Target in this one.
