Ipswich to Win

With a game in hand over second-placed Leeds United, Ipswich Town require just four points from their remaining two games to clinch guaranteed promotion to the Premier League. Coventry’s Playoff push came to a dismal end over the weekend with a 0-0 draw away to Blackburn Rovers and the Sky Blues have now won none of their last five fixtures in all competitions.

Ipswich’s form has seen them winning one of their last five in the league, drawing three, and losing one, while on their Championship travels have won two, drawn one, and lost two, scoring seven and conceding six.

The hosts have only scored in two of their last four games and it looks like they’ve lost all wind that was in their sails over recent weeks. They’ve nothing to play for here other than trying to throw a proverbial spanner into the Tractor Boys’ efforts and it’s hard to see them even being motivated to even do that. Ipswich’s goalscoring record and added Premier League promotion motivation should see them taking the maximum points.

A Goal Scored in Both Halves

There have been 12 first-half goal over the last five home Coventry games in the Championship with six second-half goals. For Ipswich, there have been five first-half goals over their last five away league games, as well as eight second-half goals. With those stats, we should be seeing at least one goal per half here.

Under 3.5 Goals

Having said that, it’s hard to imagine we’ll see loads of goals. Coventry are misfiring of late, as mentioned above, they’ve only scored in two of their last four, and Over 3.5 goals has only landed in two of their last five on home soil.

For the away side, they’re in better goal-scoring form, scoring seven over their last five on their travels but we’ve also only seen Over 3.5 goals occurring on one of those five matches. This has the look of a 0-2, or 1-2 to Ipswich so backing Under 3.5 Goals makes sense.

George Hirst to Score

George Hirst returned to first-team action for the first time since Christmas for the Tractor Boys against Hull on Saturday in a pulsating 3-3 draw away from home.

That goal means he’s likely to keep Kieffer Moore benched here and will be at the top of Ipswich’s attack so we’re backing him to add to his tally for the season with a goal.
