Not many appeal here and although Shotley Royale has a chance after his fourth at Doncaster on Friday, preference is for RUM RUNNER who won on his last visit here. Langholm, who has a good C&D record, is another to consider.
17:45 Solid Bond
After her good third on soft ground on her debut at Thirsk, SOLID BOND is given the nod ahead of Englemere who was a promising second at Bath on her debut.
18:20 Ney
A tricky race could go to NEY who has been in good form on the AW this winter and is a hurdles winner on soft ground on turf. Tarbat Ness and turf debutant Stolen Encounter are two others who could go well.
18:55 High Opinion
Although Object has an obvious chance having escaped a penalty for last week’s C&D win, he had a 10lb claimer on that day and also raced on the best part of the course, so had plenty going for him. He should go well again but HIGH OPINION is just preferred this time. Probable is an interesting long shot.
19:25 Showtime Mahomes
Highfield Viking and Russco have both been in good form on slow ground this month but drying conditions would be a negative. The suggestion is consistent 5yo SHOWTIME MAHOMES, who ran well over 6f on his seasonal debut and is probably better suited by 7f now. C&D specialist Mutanaaseq can be excused his recent defeat here and is second choice.
19:55 Moral Standards
This isn’t the strongest of maidens and MORAL STANDARDS is taken to get off the mark after two sound runs in similar grade. Dusk Dame and Kodi Lion look her main dangers.
20:25 Trilby (NAP)
This can go to the penalised TRILBY (NAP) who travelled well and scored with a fair bit in hand at Haydock on Saturday. Slainte Mhath, who has her ideal conditions, and the unexposed dual AW winner Jungle Charm are others to consider.
