14:10 – Katstar
Plenty could have a case made for them, but the vote goes to the lightly raced KATSTAR, who has improved on AW efforts when fitted with first-time blinkers here on his latest start and threatens to do better again over this longer trip if he settles. The hat-trick seeking Mcted is second choice, while Eljaytee, who’ll be suited by the weekend rain, is another to consider.
14:40 – Papagei
In a very tricky handicap, the suggestion is that Newcastle third placer PAPAGEI, is the one to go for here. He has improved on that handicap debut showing from last month and this longer trip should suit. He is firmly one to consider with Mon Etoile and Budding also likely to run well.
15:15 – Run Away
Red Pixie looks to be the pick of those with experience, but there are some fascinating newcomers in a fillies’ maiden that ought to produce its share of future winners, none more so than Blackbeard’s sister RUN AWAY, who went for 2.6million euros as a yearling. The Gosden pair of Cat Ninja (half-sister to 1,000 Guineas winner Cachet) and Running Spirit (well related) are two more eyecatchers in this race.
15:50 – Almaqam
Ed Walker and Saffie Osborne have combined for six winners from 11 runners recently and ALMAQAM, a Derby entrant who shaped nicely behind a subsequently successful stablemate in one run last autumn, can add to that impressive tally. Standard-setting At Vimeiro has been gelded since boiling over at a short price when last seen in action.
16:25 – Dreamrocker
There’s a decent spread of pace and several to consider, including a few lightly raced potential improvers. Dreamloper’s half-sister DREAMROCKER falls into that category for her in-form connections after just three runs last year, as does next-best Elladonna, who shaped nicely from a wide stall on her AW comeback, and Prisha. Double Time is fairly treated too if Oisin Murphy, who was up for his last win, can get him to settle.
17:00 – Queens Reign
Only three, notably Rating, who fared best of the group of five to race up the far side at Newmarket two weeks ago, have the benefit of a recent outing in a handicap in which a good few are open to improve. Shin Jidai makes the shortlist but QUEENS REIGN is given the chance to build on her pleasing maiden win last summer, having found it too much in subsequent Group 3 company.
17:35 – Magnificent Match (NAP)
The vote goes to MAGNIFICENT MATCH (NAP) following on from his recent C&D win over Berry Clever, but plenty of unexposed rivals are lurking in behind. They include Rogue King and Merrimack, who are feared most in that order.
