There are plenty of runners but not many appealing options. Course and distance winner ROCKET RONNIE performed quite well in both the races he completed this summer and might be able to capitalise on some help from the handicapper.

Shadow’s Girl was a respectable fourth here three weeks ago and second choice. Handicap debutant High Renown is open to improvement, while Foxy Act also has possibilities.

14:40 The Bees Knees

Celestial Force and Hasanabad are useful Flat-racers who won on their hurdle debuts at the start of this month, but it might pay to oppose them both with THE BEES KNEES.

He ran well when third here three weeks ago and may benefit from the fitting of a tongue-tie this time.

15:10 Senior Citizen

Darling Maltaix belatedly opened his chasing account with a front-running success at Stratford this month, but all his rivals (including Boreham Bill) made significant jumping errors there and the form probably isn’t quite as good as it looks at first glance.

Preference is for SENIOR CITIZEN, who lacks recent run but won a Fakenham handicap chase in pretty good style in February.

Boreham Bill can provide the main threat if able to put together a reasonable round of jumping this time. Winter Getaway disappointed on his chasing debut but ought to be capable of much better and also enters calculations.

15:40 High Wells

A few of these look interesting and this could turn out to be a warm race for the grade.

Top of the list is HIGH WELLS, who hasn’t run over hurdles since summer 2018 but made the frame in a valuable Flat handicap this month and could be a blot on the handicap in this sphere.

All Yours has also posted a useful performance on the Flat this month and, although both his hurdle runs this summer were disappointing, he is feared most.

Can You Believe It, Galileo Silver, Arkyn and Francky Du Berlais all make significant appeal too.

Monsieur D’Arque ran a big race in defeat over 2m 4f at Warwick a week ago and might be seen to even better effect over today’s shorter trip, but the one to beat is SCARDURA (NAP).

He jumped well and was a very creditable second in a warm Stratford novice chase in July, and is entitled to run off his existing hurdle mark in this handicap chase.

16:40 Sovereign Duke

Sunrise Ruby has a good chance at the weights here and will be hard to beat if all goes to plan, but she became rather frustrating last year and returns with a point to prove.

Useful Flat-racer SOVEREIGN DUKE looked the most likely winner before crashing out at the penultimate flight here on last month’s hurdle debut and is preferred.

Moon Of Baroda made a pleasing hurdle debut last season and is also a key player.

17:10 Tipalong Tyler

Kayley Woollacott’s mare TIPALONG TYLER left her previous form a long way behind when winning easily at Warwick a week ago and can complete a quick double if in a similar mood here.

Watching Brief was ahead of My Lady Grey when going close over C&D recently, but Colin Tizzard’s mare wasn’t quite at her best that day and may turn the tables.
