13:50 – Fox’s Fancy

FOX’S FANCY, a close relation to Grand National winner One For Arthur, offered something to work with in bumpers mindful she is bred to need time and distance, and she made a promising start over hurdles when runner-up at Hexham last month. She made the favourite – who has won again since – work hard and is entitled to improve from that experience, especially as she steps up in trip.

14:25 – Final Edgar

FINAL EDGAR wasn’t at his best when only fifth at Musselburgh last time, but it’s easy enough to overlook that effort, as he seemed unsuited by dropping back in trip around that sharp track. He had been in good form prior to that and was a creditable runner-up over an extended 19 furlongs at Carlisle on his penultimate outing. He will appreciate stepping back up in trip and remains on a competitive mark.

15:00 – Destiny Is All

DESTINY IS ALL has been a bit hit and miss since making a winning reappearance at Kelso in October but he shaped as if in form when a close-up fourth at Hexham last time, finishing just a neck behind Event of Sivola who cut out a steady gallop, and he could be worth siding with from a handy mark. He is 2 lb below the mark he defied at Kelso earlier in the season and the good form of trainer Lucinda Russell is also in his favour.

15:35 – Milo Lises

MILO LISES made a highly encouraging start to his career when runner-up to stablemate Predators Gold in the valuable Goffs Defender Bumper at the Punchestown Festival last season but it took him a bit of time to get the hang of things over hurdles this term. He came good at the fourth attempt over jumps at Punchestown in February, however, seeing his race out well to edge ahead close to home and beat a subsequent winner. The way he stayed on suggests this longer trip shouldn’t be an issue and he’s an interesting handicap debutant for Willie Mullins.

16:10 – A Different Kind

A DIFFERENT KIND enjoyed a productive campaign in the summer and won his last four starts, with the two most recent victories achieved over this course and distance. He found nice opportunities on both starts here, but he still impressed with how he went about his business, scoring with plenty in hand, and he remains with some untapped potential over fences. A mark of 145 is unlikely to prove beyond him and he can launch a bold bid around a course where he clearly goes well.

16:45 – Lady In The Park

LADY IN THE PARK has shown run-by-run improvement based on Timeform’s figures and could still have a bit more to offer over this longer trip. She was runner-up over three miles at Ayr on her penultimate start and ran another good race when filling the same position over a shorter trip there last time, despite shaping like a stiffer test would suit. This step up to three and a quarter miles can help bring about a bigger effort despite being lightly raced.

17:20 – Serious Ego

SERIOUS EGO has shaped better than the bare result on his last couple of starts, in races that weren’t run to suit him, and he’s been given a chance by the handicapper as he’s now only 1 lb higher than his last winning mark. He defied that with ease at Hexham in November, pulling eight and a half lengths clear, and this looks a weaker race than some he has been tackling of late.
