Offaly v Tipperary

Tipperary -14
I just feel for this fixture you can’t look beyond a Tipperary win. I think that the handicap at 14 points is doable. Considering how poor they were against Waterford a few weeks back, I reckon Liam Cahill is going to demand a big performance from them. No disrespect to Offaly but I feel that Tipperary will break them down easily. I don’t think that Offaly have the personnel yet to be able to compete with the likes of Tipps of this game.
Liam Cahill’s sides create goals and score goals and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them score four or five on Saturday. If they do that then the 14 points is well within reach. So for me I’m going to go for Tipperary to cover the handicap of -14.
Jake Morris First Goalscorer
Probably one of the biggest pluses for Tipperary in their last day out against Waterford, was Seamus Callanan coming back into form. But look who they were missing, a couple of big named players like Jake Morris and Jason Forde. Morris is likely to be back in the starting 15 this weekend and I expect Tipp to score a lot of goals. He’s in All-Star form at the moment and he’s the man for me this weekend.
This would be a big shock if Carlow were to pull off a win this weekend against Dublin considering the county only has four or five senior club teams. But what they do have is a very good manager in Tom Mullally. They also have a couple of lively forwards who can mix it with the very best of them. Martin “Mouse” Kavanagh, Chris Nolan and Paddy Boland who was very impressive in the Joe McDonagh Final so they do have some firepower. But it’s at the back where they’re possibly going to struggle. Do they have anyone to mark the razor hot Donal Burke.
Looking at the handicap of 11 points, I feel it is doable for Carlow. Considering the game is in Dr Cullen park, the pitch dimensions are very very tight. If they can keep it tight at the back then I’d feel they’d have enough up front to put the scores on the board to keep the game tight. Dublin will have their guard up for no repeat of the 2019 championship so I’d expect a Dublin win but with that I think there’s a big performance in Carlow and I think that’ll be good enough for them to cover the 11 points.
Cian O’Sullivan First Goalscorer
Like Tipperary and Offaly, I think there will be goals in this game. I’d be looking at a Dublin man to score the first and take your pick out of the three Danny Sutcliffe, Donal Burke and Cian O’Sullivan. I like the look of Cian O’Sullivan. He’s been a big find for Dublin and Micheal Donoghue. He was in the panel last year but was injured. He’s back in fine form now and raised a green flag against Galway last time out so I’m going to go with Cian O’Sullivan to score the first goal this Saturday.
