14:25 Twilight Dancer

Uncle Dick and Intercessor both won comfortably over 1m here ten days ago and, of those, ready preference is for the latter, given that he might cope better with today’s drop back in trip and that Uncle Dick gained his success in a weak contest. However, it could pay to oppose them both with TWILIGHT DANCER, who was placed on Polytrack last month and won on turf for today’s rider Olivia Tubb last summer.

15:00 Apeeling

This could be a good opportunity for APEELING, who has a tendency to race a bit too freely but ran well in defeat behind a smart filly in September. Well-bred colt Exceed Now remains open to considerable improvement but needs to learn to settle better first. Caribbean Wind and Fahrenheit Seven both switch to turf after finishing second of five in AW maidens on their recent debuts.

15:35 Daphne May

Chinthurst does not look harshly treated by a 2lb rise for last week’s narrow 1m2f course win, given the front pair drew nicely clear, but an interesting alternative is DAPHNE MAY, who has become well handicapped on some of last year’s turf exploits and hinted at a possible return to form on her latest AW start. Fast Affair is next on the list.

16:10 Zayina (NAP)

Last year’s winner Wisper ought to give a good account and Aiming High is sure to be suited by today’s ease in grade but this might be fought out by the two unexposed 3yos. The African Queen ended her four-race 2yo campaign with a Tapeta novice win in December but preference is for course winner ZAYINA (NAP), who also makes her handicap debut today.

16:45 Rasmah

It will be interesting to see if the punters remain faithful to Elforleather (second choice) but there are other candidates who catch the eye, including RASMAH who looked quite promising in a competitive AW race on her second start and is a good candidate for a step up in trip on her handicap debut. Ronnie Raven is in a similar boat but the market is likely to answer a few questions about these mostly unexposed 3yos, one or two of whom could improve past Lightning Bay and Tenyatta.

17:20 Split Elevens

Topweight SPLIT ELEVENS has not been firing on all cylinders on the AW this year but could still be too good for this field. Arlo’s Sunshine is thorougly exposed but he ran on for third over 7f here recently and is probably better suited by 1m.

17:55 Bernard Spierpoint

It won’t be a surprise if last year’s winner Autumn Flight makes a bold bid from the front but BERNARD SPIERPOINT, another C&D winner, is selected to exploit his favourable mark. Not much went to plan for him at Wolverhampton a week ago but he lost out by only a nose to the warm favourite when returning from a break there three weeks ago. My Kind Of Girl might also feature.
