West Ham’s famous triumph over Fiorentina in last season’s final is still fresh in the memory and the Premier League is represented by another claret-and-blue club in the shape of Aston Villa this term.
A total of 32 teams including Aberdeen took their place in the group stage at the start of the nine-month slog to reach the final, although half of those have crashed out including the Scottish Premiership outfit, with a number of failed Europa League sides now dropping down to compete for a place in the knockout rounds.
