Saturday 8pm: New Zealand v South Africa 2023 Rugby World Cup Final at Stade de France, Paris TV: ITV1 and Virgin Media One
I can’t wait for the Rugby World Cup final, New Zealand against South Africa. The two bets for me are simple. First it’s New Zealand to Win and I’m going Over 41.5 Total Points as well.
Normally you think finals are going to be tense and tight affairs, but that’s certainly not bee the case between these two teams in general or in the last couple of finals. There was 44 points scored in 2019 and 51 in 2015.
South Africa are more likely to make it a tight affair but I think New Zealand are going to open them up and The Springboks are going to be forced to come and score a few tries.
The reason I’m backing New Zealand to Win is simply their head-to-head record against South Africa. They were beaten by their opponents in a World Cup warm up but South Africa were ready, were well prepped, while New Zealand were essentially just off the plane.
New Zealand weren’t too concerned and they went on to lose their first game in the World Cup against France of course but they’ve gotten better and better. Crucially their route to the final has been easier.
Yes, they had that monster game against Ireland but they absolutely hammered Argentina in the semi final. They were able to rest and rotate while South Africa have had two huge games, beating France and England by a point apiece.
New Zealand have win four of the last six Tests including the last two. I’m, not including the warm up because, for me, that was a just friendly!
