13:30 Newcastle – Makinmedoit (each-way)

The four-year-old filly is rated the same on Turf as she is on a synthetic surface, but is arguably better on the all-weather. Makinmedoit has a tidy change of gear when given her ideal conditions and in this big- field handicap over an 1m 2f, I’d expect her to be played late and fast.

14:05 Newcastle – Sense Of Duty

William Haggas’ filly put up a demolition performance when winning the here last season but something must have gone wrong as we’ve only seen her twice this term. The team had a Listed-race double at Lingfield earlier in the week and the good run should continue with Cieren Fallon aboard.

15:45 Newcastle – Local Dynasty / Pleasant Man (each-way)

Local Dynasty has been gelded since his last outing and the Charlie Appleby team were obviously expecting a lot more from him earlier in the season. He went off co-favourites for the Golden Gate Stakes at the Royal meeting and finished third after being heavily punted. He now steps up in distance to 1m 4f, is lightly-raced and open to improvement. I like Pleasant Man as an each-way play at a big price as his rookie handler Jack Jones has had 20 winners in his opening full season. The trainer jockey combination are always to be respected and Pleasant Man reverts to the Flat on his first spin for this yard.

17:30 Chelmsford – Surging Tide

It appears that they didn’t make enough use of her unlimited stamina last time at Newcastle when third to Seahorse Syd. We can almost guarantee with her inside starting position from box one, that Surging Tide will be ridden aggressively. She has a good bit of wiggle room yet to improve off a handicap mark of 60.

20:00 Chelmsford – King Of Scotia

The Jamie Osborne runner Is now down to a very attractive mark of 78 from a peak rating of 89. King of Scotia switches back onto the all-weather and that is a positive. He has been running too free on the turf, so granted a stronger pace in this one mile all weather contest, he can capitalise on that falling mark.
