Each and every day of the racing year we bring you a bumper NAPs table to give you the inside scoop on all the plays you’ll need that day.
Don’t know what a NAPs Table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.
So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets) today. The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the Table. Let’s get to the picks…
MASTER CHEWY is 0-6 over hurdles but was unlucky not to win good Ascot novice in November (1m7f, good to soft, clear when fell at final flight) and was very respectable sixth in major handicap at Newbury (2m, good) in February. Out of his depth when upped to 2m5f for last month’s Grade 1 Ballymore but could have untapped potential over this sort of trip at this more realistic level.
ADMIRAL D had two wins in Ireland as a 2yo (both 6f, one on soft and one on yielding). Drew a blank in his first season with Richard Fahey but he had some good form, notably a second in big 3yo sprint at the July meeting. Not beaten far into seventh in the Ayr Gold Cup on his penultimate start and he’s 3lb lower today. Has the ability to play a part.
RED DIRT ROAD made all to win readily by 12l on last month’s handicap debut at Exeter (2m, good) and is now 2-3 over hurdles. Tackles stronger opposition here but pedigree gives strong indication the step up in trip will suit.
EMINENCY improved his RPR with each of his four runs as a 2yo, winning a 6f novice at Windsor on his second start before fair efforts at Doncaster (stiff task) and Goodwood (upped to 7f). Looks the type his trainer does so well with and one to consider on his AW debut/reappearance.
