The Timeform boffins mark your card for every race.

Timeform’s Huntingdon Tips:

13:40 – Great HeartJac
14:15 – Samuel Spade
14:50 – Blue Beach
15:25 – Ez Tiger
16:00 – Tip Top Mountain
16:35 – Pride Of Hawridge

13:40 – Great HeartJac

GREAT HEARTJAC showed fair form over hurdles but this Irish point winner was much improved switched to fences at Leicester in December, making a winning chase debut and seeing his race out much better than has sometimes been the case. Admittedly, that was a deep race, and he was left with just one serious challenger, but he is just 3 lb higher now so remains one to keep on side in the sphere for all this will take more winning. Maninsane, who is a course winner, rates the chief danger, although Charlie’s Glance could emerge as a big threat after a breathing operation.

14:15 – Samuel Spade

SAMUEL SPADE was a fair handicapper on the Flat for David O’Meara and he has taken well to hurdling for this yard, making a winning start in this sphere in a juvenile event at Kempton over Christmas. He would have likely won more comfortably too if not making a mess of the final flight and he improved in defeat under a penalty over this course and distance when beaten only by a promising sort. He comes out well at the weights now taking on his elders and he is a strong fancy to resume winning ways. Inchester d’Amsyl may be one for the forecast.

14:50 – Blue Beach

BLUE BEACH looked potentially useful when making a winning debut in a bumper at Uttoxeter last season, displaying an impressive turn of foot to spreadeagle the field and score by 12 lengths. She was unable to land short odds on her hurdling debut, but she bumped into a smart mare on that occasion, and she is well worth another chance to confirm that promise after an underwhelming effort at Hereford last time. She’s been given a break since and her previous efforts suggest she’s more than capable of winning a maiden against her own sex, especially one as thin as this. Treyarnon Bay is the main danger.

15:25 – Ez Tiger

EZ TIGER has shown some promise on his last two starts, not enjoying a clear run when a strong-finishing eighth of 17 in a handicap at Doncaster last month. He was denied a run after jumping three out which left him too far back to challenge, and he appeals as a well-handicapped horse having been dropped a further 2 lb in the weights. He is worth persevering with and is preferred to Blue Shark, who rates the obvious danger in his quest for a five-timer, while handicap debutant Bertie B has the potential to progress now.

16:00 – Tip Top Mountain

TIP TOP MOUNTAIN can boast a positive profile over fences, recording his fourth win in nine starts when scoring at Uttoxeter last month. Not for the first time he displayed a terrific attitude to get up in a close finish after a serious error in the home straight seemed to have cost him. That looks solid form for the grade and, though he is 6 lb higher in the handicap now, his record is hard to argue with and he looks the most solid option. He shades the vote in favour of Rooster Cogburn, who will be a huge threat if he stays this trip, and William Cody.

16:35 – Pride Of Hawridge

PRIDE OF HAWRIDGE was a dual winner on the Flat for Rod Millman and he has been brought along gradually by current connections, not at all given a hard time in three starts so far while leaving the impression he is capable of better. His opening mark over hurdles looks potentially lenient based on the pick of his efforts on the Flat and a much better display now wouldn’t be a surprise. Ingennio, who is another handicap debutant, may pose the biggest challenge.
