17:45: Southwell –  Another Investment

Although it’s been a long time between drinks, he at least is coming in off the back of a consistent level of form recently. Another Investment hit the line strongly over 5f at Pontefract last time , suggesting that this 6f trip from a good stall position in box 7 is going to be ideal. He’s also having his first run on a synthetic surface and 3lb claimer A J Farragher is having a fine end of season rally as well.

18:00: Dundalk  –  Warrior Brave

Ross O’Sullivan’s runner has been contesting some real solid handicap company in Ireland for this yard for the past 12 months. He didn’t run too badly in the Wokingham at Royal Ascot but his record on a synthetic surface is far better, with two victories and a second place finish. He’s both well handicapped and well-drawn in stall six and with reigning Irish champion jockey Colin Keane (who is fighting hard to retain his crown), there’s plenty to like about his chances.

19:00: Dundalk  –  Pulse of Shanghai

His win record is better on the all-weather surface than the turf, but it’s interesting that connections step Pulse of Shanghai up in distance to 1m for the first time in a long while. He has run well for 7lb claimer Adam Caffrey previously, who looks really good value for his allowance. The way he hit the line strongly last time would suggest that the extra 220 yards is within his compass.

19:15: Southwell – Chasing Afrodite

Harry Eustace’s runner was far too keen and was pestered into submission on the front end when stepping into a handicap last time out. His previous form looked particularly strong at Leicester and Newmarket when winning at both tracks. Chasing Aphrodite has a good bit of wriggle room to step forward as a three-year-old in this line-up.

19:45: Southwell – Udaberri

Has had a pretty consistent season and dropping back down to this intermediate distance of 1m 3f should suit him. This contest looks loaded with pace and should suit Udaberri’s hold-up style, although connections will not want him to sit too far off the pace. It’s only his second, try at this venue and if he runs to anywhere near his previous form, he has to be a major player.

20:30: Dundalk  –  Fascinating Shadow

Was unexposed trip wise when he arrived in Ireland and has run three very good races over different distances. Billy Lee is chasing hard for his first-ever Champion jockey’s crown and it looks a tremendous match up with Colin Keane as the season draws to a close. Fascinating Shadow looks like he may well  strike again off a mark of 80.
