Don’t know what a NAPs table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.
So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets). The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the table. Let’s get to the bets.
GLAMOROUS EXPRESS was progressive last year, when winning a Bath novice on his fifth start, and he didn’t enjoy a clear run when sixth in a Goodwood handicap on his reappearance in May. There was promise in that performance and he could build on it.
ALENQUER was edged ahead close home in the Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh when dropped back in trip six weeks ago, taking record at about 1m2f to 1211. That form has been nicely boosted by the subsequent Royal Ascot wins of State Of Rest and Broome. No match for Mishriff in last year’s International but has improved further since and may have even more to offer at this distance. One of two progressive 4yos in the field.
ALDHAJA has two wins from just five attempts, improving a bit more when second of eight over 1m1f here three weeks ago. May not have reached his ceiling just yet and should go close again if seeing out the longer distance.
TACARIB BAY was third in Group 3 at Newbury last October on just his second start and runner-up in the European Free Handicap at Newmarket on reappearance. Has not built on that, but that’s having contested the 2,000 Guineas and Jersey Stakes on his two outings since. Needs to improve but he’s interesting with his sights lowered.
