13:50 Sandown – Equilateral

ITV Saturday gets under way here with a Group 3 sprint over 5f. EQUILATERAL surely has at least each way chances here for Charlie Hills and Kieran Shoemark. The seven-year-old was in great form in Meydan over the winter and returned at Royal Ascot with a massive fifth in the King’s Stand Stakes behind Nature Strip. He didn’t get the clearest runs that day and if there is a strong pace here will surely finish off well.

14:05 Haydock – Duty Bound

ITV are also at Haydock Saturday for this handicap over 1m6f. Not many of these are absolutely sure to stay this distance but the one who might be improving well is DUTY BOUND for The Queen, Andrew Balding and David Probert. My hope started at the right end of the handicap ratings off 73 and won well at Sundown last time. The son of Kingman is up 5lb here but still has a decent racing weight.

14:25 Sandown – Ouzo

Here’a handicap over 1m for 3yo+. OUZO ran an absolute shocker at Royal Ascot but I think you just have to forget that run and possibly seven furlongs was just too crazy for him. A±t face value he might like more juice in the ground, but on good to firm her has a fourth in the 2021 Royal Hunt Cup. Basically on his day he’s a talented 1m handicapper and he might bounce back here to have each way claims for Jamie and Saffie Osborne.

14:40 Haydock – Eshaada

This is the Group 2 Lancashire Oaks over 1m4f. ESHAADA was pretty desperate on seasonal debut at Newbury but had penalties then for a Group 1 win and doesn’t have that here. I suspect that spin will have blown the cobwebs away for Roger Varian and Jim Crowley and the performance will be much better on this occasion. It needs to be!

15:00 Sandown – Heredia

Listed company for 3yo fillies over 1m. HEREDIA was really good at Royal Ascot in the Sandringham and the lightly raced and unbeaten daughter of Dark Angel can go in again. The Ascot win proved this trip was no problem and Sean Levey gets on really well with the Richard Hannon raider. Should take all the beating provided she gets a clear run as a hold up performer.

15:15 Haydock – Gaassee

The Old Newton Cup Handicap over 1m4f. I fully expect GAASSEE to be an absolute good thing here for William Haggas and Cieren Fallon. My selection was expected to be a banker at Royal Ascot but was pulled out because of the ground. It’s perfect for him here and He’s held in high regard. A mark of 101 might seem high but I think he’s much better than that. Fingers crossed I’m right.

15:35 Sandown – Vadeni

The big one, the Group 1 Eclipse over 1m2f. A smaller field than many anticipated and I’m all over the French raider VADENI for Jean-Claude Rouget and Christophe Soumillon. The French Derby hero is very lightly raced and appears to be improving fast considering that facile Chantilly success. Native Trail is fascinating up in trip, and some feel he’s been gagging for the longer distance, but I’m confident my selection will be too good and can sit and pounce in a race where there is no obvious front-runner. I’d expect Vadeni to sit behind Alenquer and taker advantage of the weight difference close home.

So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
