13:30 Chester – Look Out Louis
ITV Thursday gets under way here with a handicap over 5f. A tough heat to call. LOOK OUT LOUIS doesn’t have anything in hand on handicap ratings but he’s in good form and has a fine draw for a strong traveller. Added to that, the Julie Camacho-trained gelding ran a cracker at Newmarket last time. Should give Jason Hart a good spin and each-way claims.

13:50 Worcester – Alberic
ITV are also at Worcester on Thursday taking in this handicap chase over 2m4f. ALBERIC is edging up the handicap ratings but is still at a low end and has been in good form for the master Philip Hobbs and gets Tom O’Brien on board. This trip is ideal and he followed up wins at Huntingdon and Wincanton with a fair third at Market Rasen suggesting a 1lb rise might not stop him.
14:05 Chester – Outgate
This is a handicap over an extended 7f. I think there will be a strong gallop here and it might be that OUTGATE can hit the frame at least for the Daniel & Claire Kubler combination. The lightly raced three-year-old is up 3lb for a fine effort in a big field at Newmarket last time over a mile. I’m not sure this drop back in trip is ideal, but if they go hard from stall one he might finish off really well under Ryan Moore.

14:40 Chester – Sonny Liston
Now a Listed Dee Stakes over an extended 1m2f. I don’t think this is a good renewal so I’ll take a chance with SONNY LISTON for Charlie Hills and Marco Ghiani. My hope was a tame fourth behind Eydon in the Feilden Stakes but that form was given a boost when the winner was a decent fourth in the 2,000 Guineas. I know that Hills thinks quite a lot of this colt.
15:10 Chester – Albaflora
Now one of my favourite races in the Group 3 Ormonde over an extended 1m5f. If the rain comes then ALBAFLORA will take some stopping for Ralph Beckett and Rossa Ryan. The mare is a class act on her best form and that includes a fifth place in the Hardwicke and second in the Group 1 British Champions Fillies and Mares Stakes. Has to have strong claims rated 113, but needs rain.
15:40 Chester – Group One Power
Finally, at Chester a handicap over an extended 1m 2f. GROUP ONE POWER has run well at this track before and will be staying on better than most for Andrew Balding and David Probert. The five-year-old is on a workable handicap mark and will have blown the cobwebs away at Chelmsford first time. His second to It’s Good to Laugh in July is decent handicap form. Has a good draw.
