I find it hard to oppose GOLDEN PAL in this one. It didn’t go to plan for him in the Nunthorpe Stakes at York back in August, but he’s come back to win over 5-and-a-half furlongs at Keeneland last month. He has a great draw in stall three and he should have enough to make it home.

20:19 Life Is Good

LIFE IS GOOD should be the clear favourite here, and I can’t see another horse beating him. He’s beaten Medina Spirit twice this year at Santa Anita and that’s solid form. He’ll do me!

20:59 Loves Only You

Love is regressing in my eyes, so I’m going with the Japanese mare LOVES ONLY YOU. Her third-place finish behind Mishriff at Meydan in March is rock solid form. She’s since gone home and won once. She’s in great form and could well take this contest.

22:20 Space Blues

You’d be hoping we have a European winner here and SPACE BLUES has form over 7 furlongs, which might suit him at Del Mar with that short straight at the venue.

23:40 Yibir

Tarnawa is a wide enough draw to win, but I prefer YIBIR in this one. He has won in America before and they’ll probably run this race at a strong pace. That will suit Yibir more than Tarnawa. William Buick is on board too, which is always a bonus.

00:40 Essential Quality

There’s a lot of pace here with Knicks Go, ESSENTIAL QUALITY, Hot Rod Charlie and Medina Spirit. However, I thought the only one who could be a closer is Essential Quality. For that reason alone, I’m siding with him. The draw he has been handed isn’t the best, but he should have enough to win.
