12:05 Paros

PAROS must concede weight all round after winning in France in May, but he beat a couple of subsequent winners on that occasion and has since moved to Nicky Henderson’s powerhouse yard, so he looks the one to beat. The Worthy Brat overcame inexperience to win a junior bumper at Exeter in October and shaped with promise when third on his hurdles debut at the same course, so he looks the main danger.

12:40 Grand Mogul

Nicky Henderson has won this race six times in the last decade and he can strike again with Grand MOGUL. He came up short in Grade 2 company at Cheltenham last time, weakening on the run-in, but had previously won in good style at Chepstow and that form is the best on offer by some margin. He looks to have been found a great opportunity.

13:15 Fifty Ball

FIFTY BALL was well backed ahead of his handicap debut at Ascot and he justified the good support. He only won narrowly and scrambling home by a head, but he travelled through the race like a horse well ahead of his mark and should benefit from the experience. A 7lbs rise in the weights looks fair for this unexposed, progressive five-year-old and he should launch another bold bid.

13:50 Eldorado Allen

This is a fascinating contest and a case can be made for each of the six runners. ELDORADO ALLEN was a fortunate winner at Cheltenham last month as he was looking held before Gumball came down at the second-last.

But, there was still plenty to like about the performance, including his sure-footed round of jumping that will stand him in good stead in a race that is likely to be run at a strong gallop. He had also created a good impression when winning on his first start over fences at Newton Abbot last month and has the makings of a smart chaser.

14:25 Altior

ALTIOR wasn’t at his imperious best during a truncated campaign last season when he made it to the course only twice and suffered a first defeat over obstacles in the 1956 Chase at Ascot behind Cyrname. However, he was well on top at the line in the Betfair Exchange Chase at Newbury on his only subsequent start and should be raring to go here after a recent racecourse gallop.

He is an outstanding chaser, successful on 15 of his 16 starts over fences – including five times over this course and distance – and he is the one to beat. The improving Greaneteen looks the main danger.

15:00 Cloudy Glen

CLOUDY GLEN failed to live up to expectations last season, regularly promising more than he delivered. However, he proved a different proposition on his return at Fontwell last month, turning the Southern National into a procession.

Cloudy Glen tanked through that race and cruised 13 lengths clear, so fully deserved this 11lbs hike in the weights. He remains open to more improvement over marathon trips and will take all the beating.

15:35 Mister Coffey

MISTER COFFEY looked a smart prospect when winning at Newbury on his hurdling debut and first start for Nicky Henderson last December (he had won a bumper for Harry Whittington the previous season). But, a failure to settle cost him on his next outing at Huntingdon, where he was turned over at long odds-on.

He made a mockery of his opening handicap mark over this course and distance on his reappearance last month however, impressing with the way he picked up from last to first and there should be even better to come.

12:40 Grand Mogul
