The fourth qualifying race for Paddy’s Millionaire Chase sets off this Saturday at Sandown, with some huge names going to post at 2.25pm for the Tingle Creek Chase.

Expert tipster Frank Hickey and Mr Paddy Power himself have given their take on the race, which is serving as one of six events giving punters the chance to start 2021 in style at Cheltenham on New Years Day.

Not sure what we’re on about? You’re going to want to know. It’s your chance to turn £5 into £1m. Get the low down on everything you need to know here.

Speaking on the latest episode of our twice-weekly From The Horse’s Mouth podcast, Paddy and Frank have differing opinions on the 1m7f Grade 1 Chase – but will you follow their advice or go your own way?

Paddy Power – Altior

It’s ALTIOR all the way for me. Last year, after getting beaten by Cyrname, you thought maybe that could be the end of Altior but its quite clear that that was too early in the season for the two of them to take each other on. Altior then missed Cheltenham, but apart from that he is different gravy. He’s getting on, but he’s one of the best we’ve ever seen so I think he will win here.

Frank Hickey – Greaneteen

I’m on a hat-trick for the Millionaire Chase qualifier races, and I’m going to go against Altior with GREANETEEN.

Politologue won this race in 2017 – interestingly enough, he won the Haldon Gold Cup on his run prior to winning the Tingle Creek. He won that Haldon Gold Cup off a mark of 154. Now Greaneteen won the Haldon Gold Cup last month off a mark of 151, and he has now gone up to a mark of 158. That means he does need to improve about 10lbs but I think there is a chance he could improve a bit.

Altior has been one of the best horses we have seen in a long time, and you would put him up there not a million miles behind Sprinter Sacre. But he is rising 11 and was beaten on his reappearance last year by Cyrname. People have Cyrname down as a world-beater – I think he’s good, but I just don’t think he’s as good as people think. Altior might be vulnerable here. If you saw his work at Newbury, you would expect Epatante to travel all over him but she was a different gear altogether to him.

I just think Greaneteen is only 6 and he’s improving. If you go back to last year, he was beaten in the Silver Trophy at Chepstow off a mark of just 134 then won his next three starts over fences before finishing the season with fourth in the Grand Annual. The step from his run in Chepstow to his chase debut was a massive jump forward and I’m anticipating something similar tomorrow. If he does do that, I think he can put it up to Politologue and Altior.
