Horse Racing tips: Timeform's trio of top picks at Chepstow on Thursday

This looks a potential match with MAJOR DUNDEE and Broken Halo, but strong preference is for the former who is in receipt of 7lb. Major Dundee finished runner-up on his first two starts this season, and the form of his Doncaster run has worked out well, so he is worth forgiving a poor run on his handicap debut at Kempton last month. He didn’t seem himself that day, but he was also hampered mid-race, and the step up to 3m now may bring about some improvement, so there is plenty to like about his chance.

14.07 – Goodnight Charlie (NB)

GOODNIGHT CHARLIE is on a lengthy losing run, her last win coming at Cheltenham in April 2019, but she was backed at long odds and bounced back to form when runner-up in a handicap at Warwick earlier this month. She has tumbled down the weights – she started last season from a mark of 127 – so she is clearly weighted to win, and she has since dropped a further 2lb since her latest effort. This looks an open handicap and she is worth chancing to belatedly resume winning ways under conditions which suit.

15.07 – Motashakel (Each-Way)

MOTASHAKEL was a fairly useful winner on the Flat when trained in Ireland and has shown ability on a couple of occasions over hurdles. He shaped well on his first start for four months at Ludlow last time, doing much the best of those who were held up and leaving the impression he would strip fitter for the outing. He has likely been saved with a spring campaign in mind given his best form is on a sound surface and he could be well handicapped.
