This looks a good opportunity for the Paul Nicholls trained Broken Halo to progress further and secure another victory as a novice hurdler this season. The former Inch point-to-point winner won nicely at Wincanton earlier this month and will appreciate the extra distance with Lorcan Williams once again in the saddle.
Despite giving weight away to all his rivals today, the son of Kayf Tara looks capable of scoring again with Major Dundee his biggest danger now dropping back into a novice hurdle for Alan King.
14:45 Ludlow – Ginistrelli
Ginistrelli won with a bit in hand at Doncaster earlier this month and can follow up again for Olly Murphy in this 2m handicap hurdle at Ludlow. Fergus Gregory remains in the saddle with the handicapper moving the son of Frankel onto an improved mark of 122 today.
It was a visually impressive performance by the Murphy runner with Hydroplane back in fifth-place for Ian Williams. Robinshill looks the pacesetter for Nigel and Sam Twiston-Davies, but Hijran could prove the biggest danger to Ginistrelli following a game victory at Hereford 12 days ago.
16:25 Sedgefield – Minella Trump
The Donald McCain stable has managed a few winners over the past week and it might prove beneficial to side with Minella Trump in this 2m 4f handicap hurdle. The better ground is an unknown factor for the seven-year-old who has always raced with some underfoot conditions in the ground in his nine career starts under rules.
The son of Shantou is once again the mount of Brian Hughes and has been dropped another two pounds in the ratings following his third-place finish at Carlisle last month. His pedigree suggests good ground won’t be an issue and he should represent some value getting weight from Good Boy Bobby today.
