17:30 – Calcutta Dream

Several have claims but the vote goes to AW specialist CALCUTTA DREAM, who won over C&D in January and got back on the scoresheet with a strong-finishing success at Wolverhampton 16 days ago. Enzos Angel is on the same mark as for his close call on Tapeta last week and he’s feared most ahead of Stormingin, who scored under Ella Smart here on his last outing. Breguet Boy could bounce back with a big run back up in trip, while others to consider are Handel and Reverberation.

18:00 – Con Te Partiro

This can go to the highly progressive CON TE PARTIRO, who made it 3-3 in handicaps with his easy win at Wolverhampton last week and is well-treated under a penalty for that success. The main threat could come from Salamanca Lad, successful on turf in the autumn and made a solid start for his new yard at Southwell 18 days ago.

18:30 – Moon Aspect

Robbo got turned over at short odds last time out, while Kaolinite and Mystery Monarch badly lack recent match practice, but those are the only runners who have placed form. They don’t look bombproof and likely improver MOON ASPECT is an interesting alternative, while the suitably bred newcomers Voyeur (second choice) and Hey Crackers also figure highly in calculations. The market signals should help to complete the picture in a tricky maiden.

19:00 – Greek Giant

Kitty Foyle showed a good attitude when getting off the mark at Wolverhampton and she’s open to more progress at staying trips. Lawmans Blis could make a big impact if this sets up for his closing style, while Fox Flame also enters the reckoning along with the consistent Stage Show. However, the vote goes to Ed Dunlop’s progressive gelding GREEK GIANT, who returned from a break with an emphatic win here two weeks ago and a 5lb rise for that success looks fair.

19:30 – Top Button

This looks tricky and from a handy mark, it could be worth taking a chance on a revival from TOP BUTTON, on his stable debut, over the same trip and in the same headgear that produced a career-best. Course specialist Sir Rodneyredblood could be set for a better effort back over this C&D, while it would also be no surprise if another who goes well here, Araifjan, made more of an impact this time. Harb is not written off.

20:00 – Southbank

There’s still plenty to learn about most of these and the standout candidate on what we’ve seen is SOUTHBANK, who could still be well treated under his penalty. Justahunch is the most obvious potential danger, while Cogsworth could also be involved. There are reasons to believe that Big Blue Boy and New York Bob may be able to improve.

20:30 – Shallow (NAP)

The in-form SHALLOW (nap) won a shade cosily last time and is taken to defy a 7lb rise in a race where most of the opposition have questions to answer. The next best looks to be Mart, who has also been improving, while Swordplay could get back on track now switched to this surface.
