It’s harsh to be dismissing them at this early stage but preference is nonetheless for the once-raced SEA IN THE DARK, following his debut promise, ahead of Mahalik who improved on his second outing. Harry’s Hero is also worth a look.

14:20 – How Exciting

This can go to HOW EXCITING, who chased home a next-time-out winner on her nursery debut at Beverley and gets another chance off the same mark today. Don’t Fight It has been placed over C&D since her winning nursery debut and is feared most.

14:50 – Bonito Cavalo

A chance is taken on BONITO CAVALO, who enters handicaps at a realistic level and is returned to the 5f trip that his sire, dam and four siblings have all scored over for Jim Goldie. Canaria Prince’s C&D success last time rated another personal best form and he is feared most, ahead of Aconcagua Mountain and Mrs Bagerran.

15:20 – Chuvelo

Donald McCain’s CHUVELO showed enough at big odds in his three qualifying runs to be of interest on this Flat handicap debut. Second on the list is last year’s C&D winner Gift Of Raaj, despite a dip in his form last time out, but recent Carlisle runners Manjaam and Idilico aren’t far behind him and Two Auld Pals threw his hat into the ring for the first time on his latest outing.

15:50 – Bobby Shaftoe

A few with possibilities in an open race but BOBBY SHAFTOE is a shade unfortunate not to have won twice over C&D this year and now he has got his head in front he may well be capable of moving forward. Desert Dream may be next best but Clotherholme can also be involved.

16:25 – City Vaults

A slow start might complicate matters, but this otherwise looks set fair for CITY VAULTS to dominate from the best draw dropped back in trip. Caracristi can give the selection most to do if the start goes to plan and she can confirm Thirsk form with Hegemon, who looks best of the remainder.

Both last-time winners look well in despite their penalties but preference is for BICEP (nap) who was suited by the step up to 7f over C&D last week and is open to improvement at the trip. Jilly Cooper is favoured most of the rest, with Iris Dancer’s small but solid portfolio of efforts at the trip advertising her place claims.
