Newbury 3.30 runners

Once More For Luck

Trainer: Ismail Mohammed Jockey: Rob Hornby Age: 2 Weight: 9st 4lbs Draw: 6

Kodiac colt who built on debut promise to open his account at Ffos Las 11 days ago. Didn’t have a great deal to spare, though, and lacks the scope of some of these rivals.

**

Miami Girl

Trainer: Richard Hannon Jockey: Rossa Ryan Age: 2 Weight: 9st 3lbs Draw: 16

Impressive debut win at Newmarket and, having had excuses in listed company next time, was firmly back on track at Windsor 3 weeks ago. Remains with potential and loos ideal sort for this race.

****

Swift Asset

Trainer: Richard Hannon Jockey: Pat Dobbs Age: 2 Weight: 9st 3lbs Draw: 1

Confirmed debut promise when readily off the mark at Windsor last time and stable has a good record in this race, so deserves respect even with a bit to find.

***

Eddie’s Boy

Trainer: Archie Watson Jockey: Hollie Doyle Age: 2 Weight: 9st 2lbs Draw: 21

Debut Southwell scorer who took his form up a notch in first-time cheekpieces when third of 24 to Little Big Bear in Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot. Solid third in listed event at Sandown since, so likely to be on the premises.

***

Agostino

Trainer: Robert Cowell Jockey: Jim Crowley Age: 2 Weight: 9st 1lbs Draw: 2

Just modest form to date so, while he’s bred to do better at some point, he’s not a player in this.

*

Safari Dream

Trainer: Rod Millman Jockey: Ross Coakley Age: 2 Weight: 9st 0lbs Draw: 20

Good looker who has been better than the result on both starts to date, meeting trouble behind Swift Asset at Windsor last time. Not completely discounted for all he has something to find.

**

Michaela’s Boy

Trainer: Richard Hughes Jockey: George Rooke Age: 2 Weight: 8st 13lbs Draw: 13

Winning debut at Windsor in April. Limitations exposed since, though, and others are more persuasive in this competitive event.

**

Armour Propre

Trainer: Richard Hannon Jockey: Sean Levey Age: 2 Weight: 8st 12lbs Draw: 7

Promising sort who stepped forward from her debut when a narrow second in a maiden at Carlisle last time. Needs to be much improved to compete in this.

**

Not For Profit

Trainer: David O’Meara Jockey: Tom Marquand Age: 2 Weight: 8st 12lbs Draw: 3

Stepped forward from his debut when landing a novice at Hamilton from the front a month ago. Potential for better still, but this might be a step too far.

**

Dare To Hope

Trainer: Richard Fahey Jockey: Oisin James Orr Age: 2 Weight: 8st 11lbs Draw: 19

Promising debut winner of 8-runner novice at Nottingham in April and only just touched off bidding to defy a penalty at Ripon a month ago. Could feature with another improved showing.

***

Maria Branwell

Trainer: David O’Meara Jockey: Kieran Shoemark Age: 2 Weight: 8st 11lbs Draw: 11

Won her first two outings, then upped her form to finish an excellent third in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot a month ago. Strongly-run nature of this race should play to her strengths, and she looks the one to beat.

*****

Looking For Lynda

Trainer: K. R. Burke Jockey: Clifford Lee Age: 2 Weight: 8st 9lbs Draw: 9

Confirmed debut promise when readily landing 5-runner novice at Nottingham (5f, good) in May but disappointed at York subsequently. Has been given a break since.

**

Rogue Spirit

Trainer: Tom Clover Jockey: Jack Mitchell Age: 2 Weight: 8st 9lbs Draw: 18

Dark Angel col who justified support to make a winning debut at Beverley in May and built on that when caught dying strides in conditions’ event there next time. Easily doubled his tally last time and looks a major player.

****

Galore

Trainer: Richard Hannon Jockey: David Egan Age: 2 Weight: 8st 8lbs Draw: 14

Mild signs of encouragement so far but lacks the quality to feature in this.

*

Run Cmc

Trainer: Grant Tuer Jockey: Theodore Ladd Age: 2 Weight: 8st 8lbs Draw: 17

Left previous form behind when scoring at Musselburgh 17 days ago but he’s unlikely to be good enough for this level of race.

*

Woolhampton

Trainer: Rod Millman Jockey: Trevor Whelan Age: 2 Weight: 8st 8lbs Draw: 8

Left debut form well behind when runner-up in a course maiden in June but failed to back it up in a novice here last time. Others make more appeal.

*

Asian Queen

Trainer: Robert Cowell Jockey: Andrea Atzeni Age: 2 Weight: 8st 7lbs Draw: 4

Twilight Son filly who failed to feature in a couple of novices at Windsor and looks set for another struggle here.

*

Desert Illusion

Trainer: Ismail Mohammed Jockey: Collen Storey Age: 2 Weight: 8st 7lbs Draw: 10

Just modest form to date, so looks well out of her depth.

*

Union Court

Trainer: Ed Walker Jockey: David Probert Age: 2 Weight: 8st 6lbs Draw: 5

Impressive winner of her first 2 starts, then far from disgraced when ninth behind Little Big Bear in Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot a month ago. May do better still.

***

Claretina

Trainer: Richard Fahey Jockey: Jimmy Quinn Age: 2 Weight: 8st 4lbs Draw: 15

Well related and already has a win under her belt at Carlisle. Bit better than the result at Ripon last time but this requires a marked step forward.

**

Land Of Summer

Trainer: Richard Hannon Jockey: Hayley Turner Age: 2 Weight: 8st 4lbs Draw: 12

Cheap purchase who got the hang of things sufficiently enough late on to make a winning start at Brighton (5.2f) in late April. Ran to a similar level in defeat under a penalty at Kempton but out of depth in the Albany last time.

**

Newbury 3.30 tips

Timeform: MARIA BRANWELL’s third in the Queen Mary is the best piece of form on show and further improvement can’t be ruled out from this likeable filly, so she gets the marginal vote ahead of Rogue Spirit, whose penultimate outing (when second at Beverley) is proving to be very strong form. Miami Girl deserves plenty of respect as the pick of the Richard Hannon-trained contingent.
