14:00 – Shanty Alley

SHANTY ALLEY has failed to complete in two starts this season, but he shaped well for a long way before being pulled up at Haydock last time, the gruelling conditions possibly taking their toll late on. This represents a significant drop in grade and Shanty Alley has dropped to a very fair mark judged on the pick of his form, now 7 lb lower in the weights than when hitting the frame at Uttoxeter around this time last year. He is well worth another chance to get off the mark for the season.

14:35 – Aliomaana

ALIOMAANA was last seen finishing only sixth in a listed heat at Aintree in December, but she looks to hold solid claims here if bouncing back to her best after a break. She had some fair form to her name earlier this season, winning by a wide margin at Perth in September and also finishing fifth behind stable companion Knight’s Salute in a Grade 2 at Cheltenham in November. A repeat of either of those efforts would make Aliomaana very much the one to beat in this line-up.

15:10 – Maliboo

MALIBOO showed improved form to open her account over fences at Huntingdon in January, keeping on well under pressure to land the spoils by over a length. She then made the most of a good opportunity when back over hurdles at Catterick last time, justifying short odds with the minimum of fuss. She reverts to chasing today and this looks a good opportunity for her to complete the hat-trick from just a 5 lb higher mark than when winning at Huntingdon.

15:45 – Amenon

AMENON produced a career-best effort when filling the runner-up spot on his handicap debut at Sandown three weeks ago, rallying well in the straight to pass the post less than a length behind the winner. That form sets the standard in this line-up and it’s not out of the question that he may yet have more to offer after only three starts for Paul Nicholls. Therefore, Amenon rates a solid selection to get off the mark over hurdles in just an ordinary maiden.

16:20 – Wetanwindy

WETANWINDY stepped up on his previous efforts when hitting the frame on handicap debut over hurdles at Taunton two weeks ago, proving well suited by the step back up in trip as he stayed on well to be beaten less than two lengths into third. Still relatively unexposed, Wetanwindy is only 1 lb higher in the weights today and another bold bid is expected in a race where plenty of his rivals have questions to answer.

16:55 – Nickelsonthedime

NICKELSONTHEDIME was no match for the winner on his latest outing at Hereford, but he still took a big step forward to pull a long way clear of the rest. A dual point winner, he is likely to be suited by the step up to three miles today and a BHA mark of 112 already looks fair judged on the balance of his form. Amateur rider Joshua Newman also claims 7 lb to give Nickelsonthedime every chance in a wide-open contest.

17:30 – Tahmuras

TAHMURAS won his only start in Irish points and he again showed plenty of ability when filling the runner-up spot on his debut under Rules at Ffos Las five weeks ago. He looked the likeliest winner when hitting the front over a furlong out, but the winner came from further back to edge the verdict in the final strides. That appeals as strong form and Tahmuras looks well up to winning a race of this nature before going on to better things.
