With Jonjo O’Neill’s stable going well, an absence of knocking on a year is of no great worry for form pick A DISTANT PLACE. The Plimsoll Line has run three solid races in defeat and is the clear danger. Chanceux has a bit of potential but he will need to settle better than in his bumpers.
The 10yo MASTER TRADESMAN may be 0-19 under rules but has run well to finish second to progressive winners the last twice and this looks a weak race. The first-time visor may be a plus for the lightly raced 5yo Lily Glitters and she is second choice, ahead of Bomber’s Moon who is on a competitive mark on this year’s best form.
This could lie between Olly Murphy’s new recruit Believe Jack, who was a promising second on his hurdle debut at Tipperary in May, and hurdling debutant GREAT HEART’JAC, a point winner who went very close on his fourth and final bumper outing. Preference is for the last-named, who pulled well clear with a useful prospect last time.
Preference is for MORIKO DE VASSY, who made a winning debut at 20-1 in a bumper at Doncaster in March and is bred to do well over jumps. Fellow hurdling newcomer Lebowski ran well in defeat in his four bumpers and is feared most, ahead of point and bumper winner Imperial Hope who was second of four on his hurdle debut at Southwell in May.
Do It For Thy Sen won two in a row over fences at Southwell in May, when last seen, and reappears with Kerry Lee’s stable going very well. However, he’s up in the weights and this right-handed track may not be so suitable. Kilpin has also shown promise over fences but there are a few interesting chasing newcomers to consider. Venetia Williams gave a positive mention in her recent Stable Tour regarding the switch to fences for FRENCHY DU LARGE and he’s the pick ahead of point winner Silent Assistant, who is on a handy mark. Mille Sussurri and Scene Not Herd also bring potential to their chase debuts.
Donald McCain continues in fantastic form and OBEY THE RULES ran better than his fifth place suggests at Market Rasen last time, when fading late on over 2m3f on his second chase start. Previous chase winner Uncle O retains potential now back over fences and is second choice, although unexposed chasing newcomers All Shook Up, Loup De Maulde and Bold Red are all possible improvers.
Neil Mulholland’s PELTWELL (nap) probably had it in the bag when left clear at Huntingdon and she can make it 6-6 in cheekpieces. Sashenka is a likeable type under both codes and she’s second choice, ahead of Volkovka and Amelia’s Dance.
