15:30 – Healing Power

Several have possibilities but the vote goes to HEALING POWER, who is unexposed at this trip and made a bold bid when a clear second off a reduced mark over 1m at Chelmsford last time. Second choice is Roger Fell’s End Zone, who got back on track with a close call in a similar race at Newcastle last Monday. Paddyplex is another key player on his return from a short break, while triple course winner Omany Amber has claims if she can rediscover her spark now back on Tapeta.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

16:00 – Boy George

The one that stands out is the in-form 4yo BOY GEORGE (nap), who has a record of 222212 in AW handicaps in his last six starts and was only just caught off the same mark at Chelmsford last Thursday. Broughtons Flare (second choice) was successful over C&D on his penultimate run and is a big player if he can recapture that form, while Inexplicable has each-way claims on his drop back in trip. Others who could be dangerous are Harbour Project and Toshack.

16:30 – Al Barez

This is a tight call between the two previous winners in Forca Brasil and AL BAREZ who are very closely matched on the figures. The former made a bright start with his 5f win at Newmarket in April but he’s not been seen since, and preference is for the very well-bred Al Barez who built on his promising debut when justifying favouritism at Yarmouth last month and has plenty of scope for further progress.

17:00 – The Lamplighter

The one that appeals most is THE LAMPLIGHTER, who finished well for a close third behind a progressive 3yo over C&D last time and is only 1lb higher today. C&D winner Youllovemewheniwin had an excuse on his step back up to 7f here last time and he’s feared most on his return to sprinting. Third choice is Wudashudacuda, who returns to the scene of his win and has claims if he can get back near his best for a new yard.

17:30 – Overhaugh Street

An open race in which the vote goes to OVERHAUGH STREET, who overcame trouble when scoring off a reduced mark at Chester last month and is a big player again if he can transfer his form back to AW. Winklevi and Chipiron are feared most in that order, though another to keep an eye on is Liverpool Knight, who is unexposed as a stayer and made some promising late headway at Salisbury last time.

18:00 – Dapper Man

Charming Kid has been in good form in his last four starts and should make another bold bid back on Tapeta, while Night On Earth had an excuse over 6f in his bid for a double last time and looks interesting back at this trip for his new connections. However, the vote goes to the admirable 7yo DAPPER MAN, who got back in the groove when beating a progressive favourite over C&D last month and a 3lb rise for that success looks fair.

18:30 – Quelle Vitesse

None of the runners come here without something to prove on one count or another. Eltham Palace, Hammy End and Born To Sire all have form claims but they have mustered just one career win from a combined 63 runs. Born To Sire is most appealing of the three and ought to go close but it may be worth taking a chance on QUELLE VITESSE. She didn’t pull up any trees in four runs for her previous stable but 1m looked an inadequate test on her handicap debut and she could prove much more potent over middle distances. She’s bred to be much better than her current mark.

19:00 – Scarborough Castle

This may be run to suit SCARBOROUGH CASTLE and he can defy a 3lb rise for his latest C&D success. Oot Ma Way is another who will be doing her best work late and she’s feared most. Beau Geste is also seriously considered.
