Ayr Empress, Cable News and She’s A Lion all showed promise on their debuts, but HAVEN LADY was keeping on very strongly in the closing stages at Newcastle and could take a marked step forward with that outing behind her.
15:10 Medicine Jack
Redrosezorro loves it around here and ought to give another good account despite a mark that allows little margin for error. Red Pike and Paddy Power are both of some interest but the latter, who is still on a good mark despite a recent 4lb rise, might find this track sharper than he’d care for. MEDICINE JACK won’t be fazed by the conditions and he’s well handicapped on plenty of even this summer’s form.
15:45 Count D’Orsay
The heavy ground is a big concern for Justanotherbottle who would otherwise be interesting off a handy mark. Muscika had a few of these behind him at York last time and he’ll be a danger to all if in the same form, but the two to appeal most are Tim Easterby’s pair COUNT D’ORSAY and Copper Knight. The selection, who won this race 12 months ago, looked better than ever in a couple of Haydock runs last month and his recent Leicester effort can be forgiven.

Je Suis Charlie needs monitoring in the betting back from his long absence as he’s returning on a handy mark. Beechwood Jude is greatly respected back on heavy ground, but preference is for GAMESTERS ICON (nap) who looked on the way back when second over C&D 11 days ago.
16:50 Alnasherat
An interesting contest in which Three Saints Bay, Shawaamekh and Ey Up Its Mick all have something to recommend them. There’s a chance that ALNASHERAT could be a cut above this level though, with his latest Kempton run suggesting he is on a very dangerous mark. The ground is an unknown but there is optimism for him handling it on pedigree and if he does, he’ll take all the beating.
17:25 Justified
There are questions for all these to answer, but JUSTIFIED is probably capable of winning if this is one of his good days. Rayna’s World has a good chance if she’s fit and the market should give a clue, particularly as her trainer also runs last year’s winner Gordalan. Last week’s Ayr first Bollin Neil and third Smart Lass are others to consider, with Ambassador and El Jefe moving up in trip.
