Horse Racing tips: Frank Hickey’s & Ruby Walsh’s standout bets for Friday

Frank and Ruby have two that caught their eye at Newmarket later.

Frank Hickey and Ruby Walsh have picked out their best bets ahead of Friday’s action, with the duo both tipping Logician to triumph in the rearranged Cumberland Lodge at York.

Speaking on the latest episode of Paddy Power’s From The Horse’s Mouth podcast, Frank and Ruby also took a look at meetings taking place at Newmarket and Chepstow in order to warm up for a packed weekend of racing.

York Races Ebor Festival

1.35pm York – Logician

Frank Hickey:LOGICIAN will probably win – I wouldn’t be backing him at the price though.”

Ruby Walsh: “Can’t argue with that.”

3.00pm Newmarket – Snazzy Jazzy and Happy Power

Frank Hickey: “The Group 2 Challenge Stakes is very trappy. At the prices I’d take a small chance on SNAZZY JAZZY with the first-time cheek-pieces applied. Heavy ground wouldn’t suit but it’s soft ground at the moment and he ran ok when fourth to Space Blues earlier in the season. Happy Power was just ahead of him and re-opposes today. Small each-way bet material with no great confidence.

Ruby Walsh: “With just the eight runners, HAPPY POWER could be a ‘freebie’ at the prices. He’s won his last two and was third to Space Blues earlier in the season.

Looks a stand-out each-way bet to me.

3.15pm Chepstow – McFabulous

Frank Hickey:MCFABULOUS is odds-on and I like him to win. Things didn’t work out for him over hurdles early last season but has improved for stepping up to 2m4f, He could be a Paddy Power Stayers Hurdle contender at the Cheltenham Festival next March in time.”

Ruby Walsh: “Mcfabulous looks pretty tight at the end of the market and I can’t see anything beating him.”

3.35pm Newmarket – Pretty Gorgeous

Frank Hickey: “Shale and Pretty Gorgeous head the market for the O’Brien brothers, Joseph & Donnacha. It looks a very good race and Indigo Girl won a good race last time. Shale is 2-1 up on Pretty Gorgeous. She’s beaten her on good ground or better twice and was beaten by her on soft ground.

PRETTY GORGEOUS looks the one to beat on this ground.

Ruby Walsh: “It’s between the top two and it all depends on the ground as to who comes out on top. If it’s soft Pretty Gorgeous will beat Shale, if the ground dries up Shale will beat Pretty Gorgeous.”
