He showed inexperience on debut at Newmarket, but is the type to improve considerably for that initial experience.
17:10 Quickstep Lady
QUICKSTEP LADY is improving all the time, and her recent third at Yarmouth is comfortably the best piece of form on offer, so she shouldn’t have much trouble getting off the mark in a weak race.
Brunel’s Boy is the biggest threat unless Expedient takes a marked step forward from his mildly encouraging debut.
17:40 Magical Ride
MAGICAL RIDE won four times during a productive 2019 campaign and remains on a competitive mark judged on his eye-catching course and distance fourth three weeks ago. He was behind Arcanada and A Sure Welcome that day, but was entitled to need the run following a 10-month layoff.
Magical Ride may have most to fear from the consistent Second Collection, albeit Belated Breath will also be a threat if able to bounce back.
18:15 Just Glamorous
Though JUST GLAMOROUS failed to fire at Wolverhampton last time, he made a bright start for this yard in June and will take some pegging back if on-song at a track where it can pay to race prominent.
The three-year-old Wonderwork also possesses plenty of early dash, but whether he’ll be able to match strides with Just Glamorous is another matter – and bigger threats may be posed by Daschas and Spoof.
18:45 Taawfan
TAAWFAN duly built on her promising debut to score over this course and distance last month, making most under a well-judged ride by this jockey. She’s open to further improvement and is taken to make her first handicap start a winning one.
Alibaba has clearly returned an improved performer with two victories in as many starts so is feared most, ahead of Winnetka.
19:15 Rose Grey
ROSE GREY pulled clear of the remainder when only just failing in to win in a maiden at Meydan on debut in February. There should be more to come from her, and she sets the standard on that effort.
Angel Fairy left her debut well behind when catching the eye over course and distance three weeks ago and is next best ahead of Arabian Romance, who is worth another chance to confirm debut promise.
19:45 Eternal Prince
ETERNAL PRINCE appeals as a potential improver now making a quick switch to handicaps, progressing from his debut when third at Newmarket last time, and can strike under James Doyle from what looks a workable opening mark.
Willa and Calm Down are other three-year-olds with the potential to progress past the older opposition here. Molinari would also rate a big threat if showing up here rather than at Sandown on Sunday.
20:15 Bug Boy
BUG BOY has hinted at promise on more than one occasion for his new yard so is worth siding with in an open handicap now he finally steps back up in trip. Flashing Approach looks a big threat with this stiffer test of stamina sure to play to his strengths too.
Prince Alex could also have a say if, as expected, he steps forward now going handicapping.
