Draw could be all-important here as it tends to be over 5f at Dundalk. Betrayed sets the standard but finds herself all the way out in stall 11 and I reckon she could find things difficult from out there. The one I fancy to beat her here is Just Reminiscing who has an ideal draw in stall 2. I think she’ll clear stall 1 and lead which is a big plus over this course and distance.
She’s got decent form as well, she was 3rd in a decent looking maiden in Tipperary just last month behind a filly who was tried and well fancied in Listed company next time up. She was forcing the pace and went a bit too hard, she weakened late on but still ran a huge race. Back on a sound surface and with a perfect draw, Just Reminiscing looks one they may struggle to peg back and could see her running really well.
A maiden in Naas at the end of April should give us plenty of clues to this race. Moktaffy is likely to be well fancied again for Colin Keane and Dermot Weld and he finished second that day but the horse that finished just a head behind him that day, Baron Zee, is one that I think should turn form around with him. That was only his first run on the track and it was a very promising debut.
Moktaffy lead them at a slow gallop and got first run on Baron Zee so I think he’s vulnerable here, especially with a decent chunk of improvement to come from my selection. The form of that race took a boost at the weekend too, Sir William Bruce of Aidan O’Brien’s, who was never in it that day, won a competitive handicap at Leopardstown on Saturday off a mark of 85 so we know there’s decent substance to that race.
This race should pan out similarly with Moktaffy likely to lead and Baron Zee sitting just off him, but I think he should be much sharper this time and at a track where Mick Halford does so well too. Baron Zee looks the pick on those we’ve seen so far and should put in a huge run.
