Paddy’s opened the betting on who will replace James Horan as the next Mayo manager after he walked away from his second spell in charge of the green and red.
In his two spells Horan has raised the bar for any new manager who’ll replace him but there’s no question that the Mayo job remains one of the most attractive in the game with the combination of the squad’s potential and the most passionate fanbase in the country.
On opening of the market, Mike Solan, who guided the county to an Under-20 final, and former county star Ray Dempsey who has led his club Knockmore to two county titles are battling it out for favouritism at the top of the betting.
Other early frontrunners include NUIG boss Maurice Sheridan, Under-17 manager Sean Deane and former Monaghan manager Malachy O’Rourke.
Jim McGuinness and Kevin McStay are both considered longer shots to re-enter management with the western county at this stage while former All-Star forwards Andy Moran and Ciaran McDonald are available to back.
Meanwhile, Joe Brolly and Jimmy Sloyan are among the longshots just ahead Mayo fan Tim O’Leary who props up the betting.
