Paddy’s football trader Brian McDonnell has teamed up with PPTV to take a look at tonight’s first Carabao Cup semi final between Tottenham and Brentford. Spurs haven’t got their hands on a trophy since 2008 and if they win tonight they will face Manchester City or Manchester United in the final.

This will be a tough game for Tottenham. Brentford have played well to reach the semi finals and have already beaten four Premier League teams in the previous four rounds. Brentford have been playing a rotated side throughout this competition. Their top goal scorer and The Championship’s top goal scorer, Ivan Toney, was rested in the last round.

They’re one of the strongest teams in The Championship, there’s no doubt about that, but I think they’ll come up with a rotated team again. Realistically, when you look at the other teams in the competition, it’s going to be hard for Brentford to win this competition.

Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Football

I think their fans will be forgiving Brentford for keeping their focus on the league and resting and players for this game. You look at Tottenham – I think Jose Mourinho will go full strength for this game.

They have an FA Cup game at the weekend against non-league side Marine so that’s the perfect opportunity for them to rest players. It will be their most realistic chance of winning a trophy this season. That last time they won this competition was way back in 2008. Mourinho, he wins trophies wherever he goes. He’ll be desperate to win silverware here at Tottenham.

Tottenham to Win & BTTS

I think Tottenham will win. I think Brentford can give it a go because even if you look at their rotated team, as I said, they knocked out for Premier League clubs in the previous four rounds.

Their substitute striker Marcus Forss has been in fine form when he’s been called upon. So, I’m going to go Tottenham to Win and Both Teams To Score in this Carabao Cup semi final.
