Football Tips: Our deadly double for Wednesday’s Celtic and PSG games

Celtic and PSG have been dominant in their respective leagues over the last few years, but neither are top of the table at this early stage.

On Tuesday night we’re looking at the matchups between St Mirren at home to Celtic and PSG at home to Metz.

It’s been business as usual for Celtic in the league this season. They’re unbeaten in their five matches so far, but are in third thanks to being two games behind most of the league.

Against St Mirren they can close the gap on league leaders Rangers who are on 19 points compared to Celtic’s 16.

PSG have lost both of their opening league matches and, after an absolute shocker of a match against Marseille at the weekend, will be without some injured and suspended star players. Could they lose four on the bounce?

19:45 St Mirren vs Celtic: Celtic to Win to Nil

St Mirren’s form looks a little deceiving, while they’ve won two, drawn one and lost three, what really sticks out here is that they’ve only managed to score three goals over their six matches.

Celtic, on the other hand, have won four and drawn one of their five matches, scoring a mammoth fifteen goals and conceding just two.

St Mirren have become that team in the league everyone hates to visit, from their last 10 league matches at St Mirren Park there have been five draws and three wins for the home side and just two losses.

But Celtic have now gone 13 away matches in the league since their last defeat, a 2-0 loss away to Livingston on November 6th last year.

When coming up against Celtic at home, St Mirren’s record crumbles. They’ve only beaten them once on their own turf over their 10 most recent matches and that was in the League Cup.

They’ve not beaten them in the league since 2010. Indeed, of Celtic’s last six visits they’ve won to nil on four occasions and with Celtic in great goal-scoring form and St Mirren not scoring many at all we’re backing Celtic to Win to Nil.

20:00 PSG vs Metz: Both Teams to Score: No

We’re all loving seeing PSG fall to pieces aren’t we? It’s great fun, let’s be honest.

Just like against Marseille at the weekend, PSG are going to be missing plenty of their usual starting XI. Neymar will be suspended for the red card he got against Marseille, as will Leandro Paredes and Layvin Kurzawa while Angel Di Maria might be too.

Added to this, Mauro Icardi, Kylian Mbappe, Keylor Navas and Marquinhos are all under quarantine at the time of writing.

Metz haven’t beaten PSG away from home in any of their last 14 visits. The last time they did was in 1996 and while they’re obviously going to have their best chance since then, PSG have held them scoreless in eight out of 10 previous visits in all competitions.

While PSG are missing many of their front players they have the sturdiest defence in the league and don’t concede many. We’re going with Both Teams to Score: No.
