Our tennis trader Barry Galligan has a trio of super selections.

10:00: Alex De Minaur v Marco Cecchinato – Marco Cecchinato to Win and Both Players to Win a Set

Alex De Minaur edges the head-to-head battle here 3-2 but significantly has never beaten his opponent on clay while both of Marco Cecchinato’s victories were on clay. De Minaur didn’t make it past the Round of 16 of any tournament in his French Open preparations while Cecchinato was beaten out by Sebastian Korda in the final in Parma last Saturday.

Cecchinato is also a former semi-finalist at Roland Garros having lost out in the final four in 2018. If this contest was on any other surface you would certainly favour the Aussie De Minaur but I just cannot see past a Cecchinato win here. Cecchinato to win and both players to win a set is a solid play.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

10:00: Ann Li v Elina Svitolina – Elina Svitolina to Win 2-1

Ann Li arguably produced the most dominant display of the first round, dropping only one game and dispatching Margarita Gasparyan 6-0, 6-1. On the other hand Elina Svitolina beat 17-year-old Oceane Babel in straight sets but produced 28 unforced errors in doing so.

If she continues with such displays against Li she could see her mistakes easily being picked off and punished. With the dominance of Li and the generosity of Svitolina in the first round this could be the recipe we need for a very close affair.

Svitolina got knocked out by a qualifier in Nadia Podoroska at Roland Garros last year so is no stranger to an upset but her class and experience should carry her over the line here. Svitolina 2-1 set betting makes sense.

10:00: Mikael Ymer v Gael Monfils – Mikael Ymer to Win 3-1

Very little to go off here in terms of head-to-head record as the two have never come up against each other at any point. Neither player has come into the tournament in particularly good form while struggling to put a good run of victories behind them.

Having won in five and four setters respectively in their first round matches I would expect more of the same this time round. There were question marks around Gael Monfils’ fitness coming into the tournament and by the fourth set in his match against Ramos Vinolas, he looked to be running on fumes.

The home crowd may give him a little bit of a second wind but I don’t think it will be enough. Mikael Ymer to win 3-1 set betting looks worth a go.
