We refunded over £50,000 to punters after Rafa Nadal retired against Marin Cilic

As part of our Tennis Retirement Refund promo, we made some punters very happy...

As most people know by now, Rafael Nadal has had his injury problems over the years. He’s more prone to knocks than a sound block in the courtroom of an excitable Alabamian judge.

So when the Spaniard withdrew in the final set of his Australian Open contest against Marin Cilic, it was no surprise. In fairness to Rafa, it’s rare for him to retire from play, but his injury had become apparent in the previous set and despite lengthy delays for treatment, it was evident that he wasn’t going to be able to complete the match.

However, punters who backed the former world number 1 were cheered up shortly after the withdrawal. As part of our Tennis Retirement Money-Back Special, Nadal opting to pull out triggered a refund in free bets for all punters who backed him to win the match. Pretty generous on our part, even though we say so ourselves.

In total, the promotion cost us roughly £50,000 in free bet stakes, and an additional £10,000 on the outright market for the tournament. So it looks as if our poor old traders will be working overtime again this week.
