Are Brits Konta a winner at Wimbledon? Odds of British treble crashes after magic Monday

Our traders have slashed the odds on a Brit takeover at Wimbledon

After an historic day at SW19, tennis fans could be set for an unprecedented trio of British successes at Wimbledon this year.

Which is as good an excuse as any to crack open the Pimms.

Jo Konta booked her place in the women’s quarter finals before Andy Murray reached the same stage of the men’s – and the latter’s elder brother Jamie Murray hopes to join them in the mixed doubles on Tuesday.

And our tennis traders have now priced up an extraordinary treble for all three Brits to win their respective titles, at 80/1. Yeah, they’re getting a bit carried away.

Konta is seen as the best Brit bet, as the favourite for the women’s title (4/1), while Andy Murray is 5/1 to defend his crown.

To each be crowned Wimbledon champion, the duo are 30/1.

Brother Jamie and partner Martina Hingis are odds-on (1/7) to reach the quarter finals tomorrow.

Spokesman Paddy Power said: “Three Wimbledon winners would make for a British treble up there with Manchester United’s last season.

“We all know that Murray’s mint, but a trio of successes would Jo down very well.”
