The Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles are set to battle it out for biggest prize in North American sport this weekend.

Super Bowl LVII takes place at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona on Sunday, February 12 and the big match is likely to be settled by the quarterbacks, Patrick Mahomes of the Chiefs and Eagles ace Jalen Hurts.

The Philadelphia Eagles are the marginal favourites after a couple of dominant performances in the playoffs confirmed their status as the best team in the NFC.

A 38-7 trouncing of the New York Giants in the divisional round was followed by a 31-7 defeat of NFC second seeds the San Francisco 49ers to earn their first Super Bowl appearance since 2017.

The Eagles lifted the Vince Lombardi Trophy on that occasion after a thrilling win against the New England Patriots.

The Kansas City Chiefs are making their third Super Bowl appearance in the last four seasons after progressing to the playoffs as the top seeds in the AFC.

A hard-fought 27-20 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars was followed by a 23-20 defeat of last year’s Super Bowl losers, the Cincinnati Bengals, to punch their ticket to the big match.

The Chiefs’ last Super Bowl victory came in the 2019 season when they got the better of the 49ers.
