The clear form pick is NEMOV, whose Kempton conqueror’s subsequent progress includes a success on AW finals day. The Amazon, who should improve on his Newmarket effort, is second choice ahead of closely matched rivals Perianth and Idle Assembly.

With their 2yo form having a good deal of substance, WAFEI (narrowly preferred) and Lyric are the standout contenders. The betting should help to ascertain how they have wintered. Lady Bancroft and Hurtle Wallop again have frame possibilities but they are likely to find better opportunities in handicaps after this.

Mythical Guest, who may improve further on the back of his emphatic reappearance win, is feared most. Some of the seasonal debutants are suited by this course and look capable of being thereabouts.

There is surely progress to come from PIQUE, who is just the type to flourish in middle-distance handicaps. Second choice is Allonsy who, like the selection, looks very interesting now she’s qualified for a mark and upped in trip. Gentle Whinny, who returns to the scene of her novice win, completes the shortlist.
19:39 – Hatadora (NAP)
The vote goes to HATADORA (nap), who went very close to justifying favouritism in a similar event over C&D last Monday and is now 1lb lower. Sneaky Blinder (second choice) is another major player on form, while Calm Waters and Atlantic Gamble are interesting handicap newcomers.
20:09 – Safari Dream
Off a very handy mark back down in trip/grade and returned to the scene of his last win, SAFARI DREAM gets the vote. Antiphon, who has solid claims back at Windsor, is second choice ahead of last year’s winner Mary Of Modena.
