This thing’s got legs! We’re looking ahead to a May-Mac rematch in the Octagon

Is it possible that Floyd Mayweather might step into the Octagon to take on Conor McGregor in an MMA rematch of #MayMac?

Ok, so, as you well know by now, Paddy’s got history with Floyd Mayweather. In a good way.

In the lead-up to #MayMac, Mayweather wore our infamous Lucky Pants for the weigh-in. Then, a few weeks back, we went over to chat to the Money Team once again.

Paddy Power’s head of major brand activations, Paul Mallon, has previously explained what that second trip was all about: “We hatched a plan where Floyd would release a cryptic video showing him throwing some shapes in the Octagon, filmed in a Vegas gym. He showed up with his entourage and a couple of MMA buddies – I didn’t know they made humans that big – and was chomping at the bit for a bit of trolling.”

But, by the looks of things, there may be a bit more than just trolling at play here.

Because, on Thursday night, Dana White appeared on Fox Sports and proclaimed that a May-Mac in the Octagon had always been on the cards:

“Floyd said leading up to the fight with Conor that he would do both… So we’ll see what happens. Obviously the only way making that fight again makes any sense is if he comes into the Octagon. We went over and boxed him, you know, the UFC and Conor McGregor, and now it’s time for him to reciprocate and come fight in the Octagon.”

Dana seems keen, and if that statement doesn’t whet the appetite, we don’t know what will.

After all, who wouldn’t love to see two greats of their respective sports knock lumps out of each other for a second time? We’re so excited at the prospect of a rematch, we’ve even priced up odds on who might win.

Let’s make this happen.
