13:50 Newmarket – Aleezdancer (each-way)

ITV go Flat racing at Newmarket Wednesday starting with this handicap over 6f. ALEEZDANCER should have a great each-way chance here for Kevin Ryan and Neil Callan. He’s run well in handicaps around this mark in three of his last four starts, including a fifth in the Stewards’ Cup, sixth at York and when third on return at Doncaster. He’s race fit and the ground is no issue.

14:05 Cheltenham – Pentland Hills (each-way)

ITV also have two jumps races from Cheltenham including this handicap hurdle over an extended 2m4f. It is a big field with each-way betting up to four places. With the ground drying out I’ll risk – and it is a risk – the now lightly raced PENTLAND HILLS for the back-to-form Nicky Henderson and Nico de Boinville combination. The former Triumph hero returned this term with a fine second at Doncaster but was pulled up at Kelso. A mark of 140 is the lowest he’s been for a long time and he’s long odds so let’s give him a try.

14:25 Newmarket – Immortal Knight (each-way)

On official marks, the market leaders are not the best horses here but may have much more to come. It’s a bit of a guessing game but I’ll take an each-way chance with IMMORTAL KNIGHT for Roger Varian and Silvestre de Sousa. The Brazilian gets the mount with James Doyle on Native American and my 300,000 Guineas yearling looked good on debut at Kempton when last seen. Who knows what he can do now on turf against a French and Irish raider but he’s a promising horse who should stay well.

14:40 Cheltenham – Il Ridoto (each-way)

IL RIDOTO has gradually come back down to a handicap mark that is of interest back at his favourite track. He’s off 143 here, the mark that saw him second in the December Gold Cup and was fourth in the excellent Paddy Power when 1lb higher. His eighth when on 146 last time in the Plate at the Festival was far from a disgrace. He runs for Paul Nicholls and Harry Cobden and I’ll go a few quid each-way.

15:00 Newmarket – Astro King (each-way)

A lot of these closely matched on official figures but surely ASTRO KING is overpriced for the Kublers and Richard Kingscote. The Cambridgeshire winner was unlucky in Bahrain and then didn’t do much in Riyadh but this is his course and distance and with a gallop looking assured he might well be a decent each-way bet for a team I hold in high regard.

15:35 Newmarket – Dance Sequence

DANCE SEQUENCE looked good in the Oh So Sharp and with the Charlie Appleby three-year-olds in good shape so far this season it’s easy to go with her under William Buick. She is currently second favourite for the 1000 Guineas so this is an important test to overcome. So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
