13:50 – Kerdos

Kerdos looked like a useful prospect when winning both starts as a juvenile – he won a Haydock maiden and a Windsor novice – and he showed even better form despite meeting with defeat for the first time on his handicap debut on his return at Lingfield last month. There were only five runners in that handicap but four of them had won last time out and it appeals as being a race to be positive about. There should be more to come from Kerdos after only three starts and he is still on a good mark after edging up 2 lb in the weights.

14:25 – Enrico Caruso

There’s no form to go on in the Wood Ditton but Enrico Caruso hails for the Gosden yard that has won the last two editions of this maiden and he gets the nod. The son of Roaring Lion is a half-brother to three winners, including Crazy Horse and Richard Pankhurst who both showed smart form for this yard and he makes his debut with the stable’s runners in excellent order.

15:00 – Creative Force

Creative Force enjoyed an extremely productive campaign during 2021, winning on five occasions, including at Group 1 level in the Champions Sprint Stakes at Ascot. He was unable to add to his tally last term but he hit the frame in four of the five top-level sprints he contested, including the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint at Keeneland when last seen in November. Creative Force boasts a perfect three from three record over this course and distance and has the strongest form on offer, so he stands out as the one to beat.

15:35 – Mysterious Night

Mysterious Night progressed well last season and followed up a Group 3 success over seven furlongs at Deauville with an emphatic Grade 1 victory in the Pattison Summer Stakes over a mile at Woodbine, showing smart form to forge five and three-quarter lengths clear of his rivals. He heads Timeform’s ratings based on that performance and could still have more to offer over a mile so looks the one to side with for Charlie Appleby and William Buick who have won three of the last four editions of the Craven.

16:10 – Prepense

Prepense boasts an eye-catching pedigree being a sister to the very smart Headman and she made a promising start to her career when runner-up to subsequent Fillies’ Mile winner Commissioning on Newmarket’s July Course. On the back of such an encouraging debut, Prepense looked to face a simple task in a seven-furlong novice at Chester but she was turned over at a short price, finding no response when challenged entering the final furlong. That was disappointing but she has been given plenty of time, as well as a breathing operation, since then and she remains with potential.

16:45 – Liberty Lane

Liberty Lane looked like a very good prospect when making a winning start at Nottingham in October, forging five lengths clear in the style of an exciting prospect. He holds plenty of fancy entries so is seemingly held in high regard at Karl Burke’s yard and, with more to come, he is the one to side with in this strong novice.

17:20 – Harry Magnus

Harry Magnus wasn’t seen to best effect when a beaten odds-on favourite in a six-furlong novice at Southwell on his penultimate start – he was unsuited by the steady pace and bumped into a useful rival in any case – and he again didn’t have things run to suit in another steadily-run affair over seven furlongs at Kempton last time, though he was able to get off the mark without needing to show his best. Still, that Kempton form has since been boosted, notably by the runner-up Desert Cop, and Harry Magnus looks fairly treated on his handicap debut here based on what he showed when runner-up behind Shaquille at Wolverhampton in December.
