Tipman Tips use a points system to track profit and loss. To calculate your point value, simply divide your monthly budget into 100 points, it can be done with any budget and any value, for example:
* £50 Monthly Budget – 50p Point Value *£100 Monthly Budget – £1 Point Value * £200 Monthly Budget – £2 Point Value
So, in practice:
12:50 – Royal Ascot Red Rum 5/1 – 1.5 points each-way (3pts total)
If you had a budget of £200 you would place £3 each-way on the example selection above (£6 total)
Grivetana looks a very interesting runner for the Paul Nicholls and Harry Cobden duo and apart from last time out on soft ground when she genuinely disappointed, there is a lot to like about her chances on ideal ground conditions. Her two best starts have come on good ground, going down narrowly to First Street, who is now rated 152, at Newbury so dropping to a mark of 119 looks extremely appealing. She was ahead of some decent horses that day who are all rated 125 plus now. She comes here 2lbs lower than when second at Newbury, fresher than most and on ground she loves.
We’re happy to take La Renommee each way as most of these are stepping up in class so there is always the element of unknown but there’s a lot to like about this progressive five-year-old and a mark of 118 might be way off where she actually is. She arrives in good form with back-to-back wins and since she was sent chasing, she hasn’t finished outside the top two in four starts. This is a step up in class but it’s similar for the field and she has plenty of scope for more improvement. She’s also given weight by the field.
There are obvious risks attached with all of these making their racing debut but I like the profile of the Kingman gelding Kathab, who’s trainer William Haggas has said he looks sharp and this is the ideal trip. Jim Crowley has been booked for the ride and he’s closely related to a couple of nice winners. There have been plenty of Kingman winners already this season and for top connections. He could be a very useful prospect for the Haggas yard.
Arclight for Nicky Henderson has so far done all her best work on good ground and although Nico de Boinville has opted for Under Control, she’s dangerous under Daryl Jacob. Rating wise, she’s right up there and she can improve. This two mile trip looks absolutely ideal and she should be able to get a nice sit with plenty of these likely to go off at a right pace and make this a proper test.
