13:40 – Prepense

PREPENSE shaped encouragingly when filling the runner-up spot on her debut at Newmarket in July, just not quite so clued up as the winner when it came to the crunch. She was beaten only three and a half lengths and that form comfortably sets the standard in this novice. Sure to improve with the experience under her belt, Prepense is very hard to oppose as she tries to open her account at the second attempt.

14:15 – Cliffcake

CLIFFCAKE shaped better than the bare result when last seen finishing fourth at Doncaster in July, doing well to be beaten less than five lengths having raced closer to the strong pace than ideal. He certainly showed enough to suggest he is still on a lenient mark and this track should play to his strengths given his style of racing. He is well drawn to attack in stall 3 and another bold bid seems assured as he attempts to make is seven wins from 12 starts since joining Roy Bowring.

14:50 – Tyrone’s Poppy

TYRONE’S POPPY has won his last two starts in good style, first getting off the mark at Ayr and then progressing further to defy a penalty at Leicester. He won by just half a length but was value for extra on the last occasion, always doing enough after quickening to lead entering the final furlong. He is clearly going the right way and an opening BHA mark of 84 might not be enough to prevent him from completing the hat-trick on nursery debut.

15:25 – Call my bluff

CALL MY BLUFF bounced back to form with a good third at Newmarket last weekend, staying on well to pass the post just a length and a half behind the winner. That race was run at just an ordinary gallop and he left the impression he would have benefited from an even stiffer test to bring his stamina into play. The longer trip today will certainly be in his favour and this looks a good opportunity for him to resume winning ways having also run well over this course and distance back in May.

16:00 – Novel Legend

NOVEL LEGEND wasn’t seen to best effect when fourth on his most recent outing at Newcastle, passing the post only three lengths behind the winner and looking unlucky not to finish closer still having met a bit of trouble. He is 1 lb lower in the weights today and the step up in trip could eke out a bit more improvement given how he has been shaping up in handicaps. James Fanshawe has been among the winners recently and Novel Legend is well worth another chance to get off the mark.

16:35 – Silent Monarch

SILENT MONARCH looked a useful prospect when making a successful debut at Beverley last month, hitting the front over a furlong out and quickly asserting from there to win by two and a half lengths in convincing fashion. She has a wide draw to overcome today in her follow-up bid, but her rivals don’t have anything like the potential that she does. It will be no surprise if she takes a big step forward to maintain her unbeaten record before stepping up in grade.

17:10 – Hello Zabeel

HELLO ZABEEL very much caught the eye when fifth at Newmarket last weekend, doing some good late work having missed the break. He was beaten only two lengths and it was certainly a step back in the right direction on his first start for Charlie Fellowes (formerly trained by Kevin Ryan). Now down to a BHA mark of 72, he was placed off 78 as recently as May and it’s surely just a matter of time before he regains the winning thread if continuing to go the right way for his new yard.

17:40 – Sweet Fantasy

SWEET FANTASY ran another solid race when filling the runner-up spot in a maiden at Kempton last time, ultimately proving no match for the winner but sticking to her task well to pull clear of the rest. She is back in a handicap today and lines up from the same mark as when splitting two next-time-out winners on her penultimate start at Ripon. She deserves a change of luck and is worth a chance to resume her progress to gain a first career success.
