Though it’s likely that he’s already shown much of his hand, EXPLICIT makes plenty of appeal eased to 0-75 company for the first time. He had no chance from his track position in a competitive Glorious Goodwood nursery last time and a reproduction of his effort at Musselburgh 10 days earlier would probably suffice here, especially if returned to front-running tactics. Gifted Angel found things happening too quickly over five furlongs at Sandown last time and is feared most back up in trip.

14:45 – Struth
Those with experience have all shown ability, but don’t set an exacting standard on form, so it may be worth siding with one of the well-bred newcomers, with STRUTH making a fair bit of appeal on paper. He represents a yard that do get first-time-out winners and is bred to be useful, while he is starting out at the right sort of trip, so is one to monitor in the betting. Red Fort is another well-bred sort who needs a second look, while his stablemate, Fox Island, is entitled to build on his debut.
15:15 – Mukha Magic
MUKHA MAGIC is thriving at present, recording his third win in his last five starts over two miles at this course in grand style. He bumped into one well ahead of their mark at Kempton on his previous start but had nothing of his calibre to content with last time, not for catching one putting the race to bed very early in the straight. The handicapper has rightly had his say, raising him 8 lb in the weights, but a similar performance should see him hard to beat once more down two furlongs in trip. Myboymax had Gordons Aura back in third when scoring at Yarmouth a fortnight ago, but the latter may be up to reversing that form in a first-time visor.

15:50 – Audience
The three-year-olds may come to the fore here and it is AUDIENCE who is taken to gain his first win of the season. He was a good winner on debut at Newmarket last year and has shown improved form this campaign, producing a career best on his handicap debut last time. This will be his first start at the minimum trip, but he has displayed plenty of speed so far, and the drop to this trip may be the making of him. Whenthedealinsdone has yet to match his 2021 form so far this season, but he will be a live danger if on-song here.
16:25 – So Grateful
SO GRATEFUL gained due reward for a string of consistent efforts this season when belatedly opening his account at Southwell 11 days ago. He won with a fair bit in hand that day, eased down near the line to win with much more in hand than the official margin suggests, so a subsequent 6 lb rise in the weights looks more than fair. So Grateful has plenty of form on turf, so the switch in surface shouldn’t pose a problem, and he is taken to follow up now. Enderman wasn’t ideally drawn at Thirsk last time and looks dangerous judged on his course and distance second the time before.
17:00 – Gert Lush
This looks open, but the vote goes to GERT LUSH, who posted much her best effort of the season so far when third off this reduced mark at Newbury, and a reproduction of that effort would give her every chance. The hat-trick seeking Thunder Flash has to be feared in current form, but a bigger threat may be posed by Nine Elms, who has remained in good form since scoring over course and distance in June.
