Ruby Walsh: My 3 top tips to crack Clonmel on Thursday

Tiger Tap Tap could roar home at Clonmel

Getaway Gorgeous – Clonmel 12.20

The first race on Thursday at Clonmel gets under way at 12.20, it’s the Kilsheelan Mares Maiden Hurdle. Willie Mullins has two runners, Getaway Gorgeous being the first one, and the superior one on bumper form – Hopefully is the other option, ridden by Danny Mullins.

Getaway Gorgeous (5/4) was placed in a listed bumper, she jumps really well and her work has been going really well, so I hope she’ll be good enough to get through here.

Tiger Tap Tap – Clonmel 1.25

The 1.25 is the Munster Hurdle. Insult, Ferocious, Rightplacerighttime and Tiger Tap Tap. Tiger probably hasn’t lived up to expectations, but he is rated superior to Insult.

Ferocious was a good winner of a maiden hurdle in early December in Tramore when he beat the highly-rated Five O’Clock, so he could give Tiger Tap Tap (4/7) something to think about but Tiger has way more experience.

Lord Royal – Clonmel 2.00

This is the second maiden hurdle on the card. Willie Mullins runs Lord Royal (13/8). He was third reserve at Tramore on New Year’s Day. We really like this horse, he’s a fine, big, good-looking grey who jumps and gallops and I think he’ll take a lot of beating.

A treble on these three bets pays out at over 8/1:

12.20 – Getaway Gorgeous @ 5/4

1.25 – Tiger Tap Tap @ 4/7

2.00 – Lord Royal @ 13/8
