Jason Weaver: Can anyone stop Enable and Frankie Dettori?

The Shark's had a look at the Eclipse and all the rest of Saturday's ITV races

Enable Frankie Dettori

Sandown 13:50

Sergei Prokofiev takes the drop in grade after never getting involved last time. He is a bit of a tricky customer as he needs the race to fall into his lap, but given the nature of the track at Sandown it looks a perfect set up for him to be all locked up with nowhere to go and find a gap late on.

I think he can look good in winning.

Haydock 14:05

Tidal Point is going to be the complete outsider of the field having finished behind the favourite on one occasion early on in his career.

He gets a massive pull at the weights and is fitted with cheek pieces to help him focus. Off just 8st he can cause a massive upset – I only wish there were eight runners for each-way purposes.

Sandown 14:25

Qaroun put up an excellent performance at Newcastle last time against some very solid opposition.

That form looks particularly strong and, given he has been drawn down on the inside in stall two, he looks a very tasty bet with all the money surely to be on the favourite, History Writer.

This race is not loaded with pace and I think Ryan Moore can sit handy and commit early in the straight.

Haydock 14:40

Nyaleti has a very in and out look to her profile recently, but on closer inspection whenever the track is undulating she has run poorly. This is a beautiful flat galloping track and should suit her style of racing.

Additionally, she steps up in distance and if she sees out the trip she is a major player on official ratings at double digit odds.

Sandown 15:00

Beyond Reason quickly made up into a smart performer last season before it all seemed to go wrong towards the back end of this season. She was far too keen when last seen in group one company – a significant drop in grade and over a trip that looks ideal she can make light of her 267-day absence.

Haydock 15:15

I’ve been keeping my eye on Melting Dew since his return run at headquarters earlier on this season. He didn’t travel far again for his last start on the July course and momentarily threatened to run a big race.

Dropped in the handicap again – now 5lbs lower than the start of the season – he’s going to fly under the radar at a huge each way price for the old Newton Cup.

Sandown 15:35

We all love a champion and Enable is exactly that.

Returning over a trip short of her best shouldn’t be a problem as she has bundles of natural pace.

Dettori is flying and she’s the cornerstone of many an accumulator with Paddy.
