York 13:40 – Crazyland

ITV coverage on Friday gets under way here with this Listed event over 5f and it’s a wide open affair. I have no idea how anyone decides these are up to Listed class but they might be good! I was at Windsor when CRAZYLAND made a winning debut for Clive Cox and I thought she looked quite good. Hector Crouch takes the ride and he’s in form as well! The daughter of Kodiac beat the re-opposing Sienna Bonnie who went on to score next time. Guessing a bit, but hoping mine is good enough.

New to Paddy Power?

York 14:10 – Love Is You

Another Listed contest here but this time over 1m for 3yo. Snow Lantern will be all the rage and she could be very good. However, I’m hoping LOVE IS YOU is miles better than she showed at Newmarket first time this season. Trained by Roger Charlton and ridden by Jason Watson, Love is You was third in the Nell Gwyn behind Sacred over 7f. That effort strongly suggested a bit further and some juice in the ground was needed and that is what she gets here for Normandie Stud.

Newbury 14:25 – Beyond Equal

ITV also show one race from Newbury in this handicap over 6f. BEYOND EQUAL is a mudlark for Stuart Kittow and might get a surface that is right up his street. The five-timer winner has been in really good form of late and while he’s not got much in hand on the handicap ratings he should have a decent enough archway chance under in form David Probert.

York 14:40 – Fishable

Now we have a handicap over an extended 1m2f. Blue Cap could be well handicapped. FISHABLE is probably not the best in amongst this lot but the Tim Easterby gelding is well suited by the trip and has a piece of good track form to his name. David Allan takes the mount and any juice in the ground will be no issue. There are some ‘sexier’ runners in this field, but Fishable is a good each-way bet.

York 15:10 – Nayef Road

Group 2 company now with the Yorkshire Cup over 1m6f. NAYEF ROAD has tried York three times before and has yet to win at the track, but the classy stayer might be hard to pick up here if able to dominate from the front. That’s a big ‘if’ with Sir Ron Priestley from the same stable, but I’d imagine Ben Curtis will say catch me if you can and I’d expect a big run. My hope was far from disgraced behind Stradivarius at Ascot last time and that should have blown away the cobwebs.

York 15:40 – Shawaamekh

And finally at York a handicap over 7f. This is very hard! SHAWAAMEKH might have archway claims for Declan Carroll and Harrison Shaw. The Born to Sea offspring has won three races in his career and has to been disgraced at Chester a couple of times recently. Tis is another track that early speed is often vital and while he hasn’t run that well at York in one effort in the past the conditions are perfect for some sort of effort. So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?

Matt Chapman’s best bets on Friday:

York 13:40 – Crazyland
York 14:10 – Love Is You
Newbury 14:25 – Beyond Equal
York 14:40 – Fishable
York 15:10 – Nayef Road
York 15:40 – Shawaamekh
