Anadora kept on well to win over 5f at Newcastle on her debut and is open to improvement now tackling 6f, but she’s carrying a 6lb penalty and some of the newcomers could be useful. Top of the list is Godolphin’s BEFORE DAWN, who hails from a family Charlie Appleby has done very well with. Safety First for Clive Cox is second choice, while Cachet’s trainer George Boughey has also enjoyed a fine start to the season with his 2yos.

Named after the trainer’s late father John Dunlop, JOHN LEEPER has star potential judged on his pedigree (by Frankel out of Snow Fairy) and the dream is still alive following his performance at Newcastle 15 days ago. He has inexperience and some immaturity to overcome but can take this next step up the ladder. Fancy Man sets a good standard but Tasman Bay, who still looked a worked in progress when third in a warm race at Newbury, may be the chief danger.
14:40 Bellosa
The exciting BELLOSA brings major potential and is taken to follow up her impressive debut success. Back down in trip and class, Devilwala may prove the biggest threat, ahead of Fundamental. It remains to be seen whether Cloudbridge settles returned to 7f with the hood removed, while Thank You Next looks relatively exposed and Bellissime has a stiff task.
15:15 Jadwal
Having bumped into the exciting Dragon Symbol when second of four at Kempton on his reappearance, JADWAL then did very well to go close at Lingfield after pulling hard early on. With a strong pace likely in this big field, there can be optimism that he will settle better today and he has plenty of potential off his current mark. Jumby was an eyecatching third over C&D last month and is feared most, ahead of last-time-out winners First Folio, Seven Brothers and Barney’s Bay.
15:50 Ametist
The very lightly raced AMETIST has won his last two starts and this well-bred 4yo is taken to land the hat-trick on today’s handicap debut. Things didn’t work out for Maxi Boy over C&D on his reappearance but he could still be on a good mark and he’s feared most, having been very lightly raced since his useful juvenile campaign in 2019. Riot is a big player judged on his last-time-out second at Newcastle and he is unexposed in the cheekpieces.

Several are interesting fillies but MELLOW MAGIC has shown solid form when placed on her first two starts and her pedigree suggests she will continue to improve. Sayyida is a half-sister to Derby winner Masar and is feared most now she is stepped up in trip on her reappearance, with stablemate New Exceed and Wolverhampton winner Haykal others who can go well.
17:00 Saaheq (NAP)
The rejuvenated SAAHEQ (nap) continues to run well and is selected ahead of Nibras Again, who was scuppered by a wide draw at Beverley last time. Recent AW winner Araifjan can have a big say if transferring that form back to turf but there are doubts on that score. May Remain is another to consider, now he’s had the benefit of a run.
